Today was suppose to be a fasting day. Ha. Fail.

I should have known it was going to be a crazy day when I couldn't find the truck keys. A client decided to show up to my office 30 minutes before her appointment, so the secretary was messaging me that she was already there. And, of course, I wasn't. I finally decided to drive my son's car, a Honda Civic. I made it approximately a half mile from the house when the car lost traction and spun around 1.5 times coming to a final rest in a ditch. None of the neighbors answered the phone. So, there I was stuck on an icy patch with my son's car facing the wrong direction. So I did what any girl stranded on an icy patch of road in a ditch would do: I somehow man-handled the Honda and pushed it out of the ditch, in neutral. Now either Honda Civics are incredibly light vehicles or all those Planks and 10 pound weights are paying off. However once I got the Honda over the area of the ditch that it was hung into, it kept on rolling backwards. I scrambled to my feet, sliding all over the ice myself in high heels and dress pants (thankfully I wasn't wearing a skirt today), to be able to jump into the driver's seat in some attempt to stop the vehicle. Now I won't claim that all of the marathon training enabled me to jump into the Honda as it was rolling backwards, but I will say that if I hadn't dropped 67+ pounds I might've never caught up to it even as it rolled no faster than 3 miles an hour. I'm surprised that it didn't roll backwards into another ditch. It must have looked like a replay of The Three Stooges, except it was more like Just One Fool. Once in the driver seat, it occurred to me that brakes don't really matter when you are sliding on ice, so I braced for an impact with the expected second ditch. Fortunately I hit snow first and was able to shift the car into drive and edge forward.

This is Southern Kentucky. We are known for moderate winters, not an ice covered tundra. I've never even owned a 4 wheel drive or tire chains. And, winter driving has not really been a memorable portion of driver's training.

I don't think I am hurt. But my nerves are shot. I instantly decided this is the day that I must promptly return home and go to bed. I called the office and cancelled all appointments. Inched my way a half mile back down my road to my home. Then, I proceeded to add to my food journal: 1 glass of sangria, 2 slices of healthy life bread and a 1/4 cup of kraft fat free cheese. Today, Carlos Rossi and I shall enjoy Netflix safely in the comfort of our own, warm, humble abode.

Cheers FS Friends! May your journeys be safe today!

Oh my goodness - that was an epic save getting the car out, and it must be the weights, coz after my big old Volvo, my mate's Civic was the heaviest car I've ever had to push!

Any woman who can move a HONDA in ICE get's total props from me.. you rock!!! Wow wow wow!!! Glad you weren't seriously hurt but I would encourage you to drink a lot of water as I'm sure the strain on your muscles and adrenalin will be releasing some pretty bad stuff the rest of the day ~ try to flush it out and stay warm, safe and dry!
