Happy Hump Day!
My usual "Work an hour from home" day got flipped from Tuesday to Thursday this week. It's where we leave work at 4p to get home and sign in to cover the support queue from 5p - 6p. It's kinda nice to beat the traffic, and that 1 hour usually flies by. I can still watch the news and give my kitten some attention. However, I don't go to the gym on that day, since my gym is near the office and not close to home.
Luckily, I had my gym bag already in my car, so I talked myself into going yesterday. I'm so glad I went! I've started a routine where I walk/jog on the treadmill for 15 min. and get my heart rate up. Then, use the weight machines for 15 min. Then, get on the elliptical for 15 min. getting my heart rate back up. Then, finish with 15 min. of free weights and ab crunches. I don't know if it's quite like HIIT, but I'm breaking up the cardio since I feel like sometimes 30 min. can drag on.
I'm ready to go again today! I loaded my Zune (Microsoft's equivalent of an iPod) with some new Pop/Dance tunes and I'm feeling energized.
I love this time of year! The leaves are starting to turn colors, every weekend there seems to be another fall festival to attend, and football games to watch!
Things that I'm thankful for: * newly found motivation after being in a funk for 8 months! * the numbers on the scale continuing to decrease little by little * feeling comfortable at my new job after being here for only 2 months * brisk Fall mornings!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! The weekend is almost here!
Edit: I caved at lunch today. I met with 5 girls that I used to work with at Cintas for lunch. We get together every two weeks to check in and see how everyone's doing. One of the girls just got engaged, so we had to celebrate! Another girl from the group had a coworker make a little 2-layer cake for this lunch gathering. I'd like to think that this cake was less fattening than a normal chocolate cake. We call these Kim Nguyen cakes. A Korean lady who makes amazing melt-in-your-mouth cakes. The frosting tastes like it has whipped cream mixed in. So it's very light and fluffy frosting. This was Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Mousse and Hazelnut frosting... MMMMmmmmmm! I only had a tiny piece, but couldn't resist a Kim Nguyen cake!
