Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 08 May 2013

2nd Journal Entry = Constipation, Babies, Husband's probably going to divorce me, Coconut milk?, my kids a monster. There I summed it up.. so if you risk reading this well then it's your own fault.

Ok little man is just shy of his 1 yr birthday and he's on toddler formula but I wanted to get him switched over to milk to save my pocket book because the kid is a never ending pit. He should be! He's a growing boy. The only problem is even if I do 4 oz forumla to 1 oz milk the kid suddenly has rabbit turds. He will NOT drink juice so prune, grape, or any other kind of juice to balance him out doesn't work. He looks at me like "God woman! This crap is nasty! What are you trying to do to me?!?!" I might be able to get some prunes into him if i put the puree into his cereal but do I seriously want to put prunes in this kid every day?

A neighbor said what about coconut milk? It has good fats, vitamins.. only drawback is its low calorie but the kid eats like it's going out of style. He only wants things he can feed himself. Puree? Ha! That's wall paper paste! I don't think the low calorie would affect him with all the meats, potatoes, veggies, fruits, and grains the kid is packing away every day. It could be a nice thing to add. Heck.. if I get it then it has less sugar is a lil sweeter and I may be able to talk him into giving his cup a chance. Right now he thinks the thing is evil and chucks it 5 feet whenever we try to give it to him.

Problem with being a diary farmers wife is anything milkish that isn't milk is evil and retarded. But milk produces rabbit turds and a kid turning red, and making cave man noises while he hides behind the couch. That can't be good. What am I suppose to do mix the prunes with the milk? Yuck. He would chuck it at my head and hide under the table till I fixed his bottle the right way. He's his fathers son.. none of this stubborness came from me.

So.. I'm going to risk the coconut milk. The nurses said it's perfectly acceptable so long as it isn't the crap from a can and it's organic. Any other ideas for transitioning a kid to dairy? He's had cottage cheese and yogurt. Something about milk equals rabbit turds. And the kid is a wierd eater. Ice cream. NO Juice.. No no no Dog food? Something that came from heaven. Bits of banana, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cooked carrots. Num. shredded beef, chicken, pork yup. Bacon? BACON! It's like putting a half eaten turkey in front of the barn cats.

what if *gasp* the kid is lactose intolerant? with the milk producing the pellets...don't know...but if he can eat ice cream, maybe not. Just a thought - the picture of him hiding behind the couch making the "cave man noises" made me laugh so loud the dogs looked at me like I'd grown a 2nd head! My kids are 27 and 31, almost, so it's been a lot of years since I tried to figure out how to get the good stuff in them without wearing it myself - so, best of luck to you!!

I adore coconut milk and the unsweetened kind really tastes like lowfat milk. Poor baby - and Mama makes me laugh. :)

My kids didn't suffer from this too much, but my neice did and they told her to use a little bit of dark karo syrup and it worked for her. I've also heard that just using honey works. As for the milk, my kids had no problems so I don't know what to tell you there. Poor kid. And poor Mom!

My 3rd and most stubborn son would only drink out of the sippy cups with the soft tips.. I think they were gerber and they had to have 2 handles and be filled with apple juice.. But the apple juice got the rabbit turds moving for us... middle son needed a tiny bit of chocolate syrup in the milk before he would consider tasting it.. Good Luck!

The older I became, the more lactose intolerant I became. Before gall-bladder went chronic and removed I wouldn't DARE eat ice cream or drink milk. After, the ONLY milk that doesn't bother me - ie, send me running to the potty -- is Hickory Hill Milk. It is non-homogenized, but pasturized. Not sure that is an option.

He has soft tipped cups, two handled cups, one handled cups, purple cups, swirly cups, you name it.. he has it. He still smacks them away and screams whenever they come near him. Then again.. he refused to hold his own bottle till 2 weeks ago. He would just scream at his bottle on the table. Wouldn't pick it up. Or would pick it up then chuck it. The kid should be an amazing baseball player. He chucks everything.

Mars I will try the karo syrup and he's finally old enough for honey so I may try that too. I'm surprised we're all alive. No honey till you're 1? I'm pretty sure I had honey at 6 months. lol

My kids were both super independant and couldn't wait for sippy cup! But my daughter actually liked nthe ones with straws better. I'd go hard core. just leave it there and tell him he's too big for a bottle. As long as he's eating he's getting fluids and won't die lol. If he wants it bad enough (esp if you put what he really likes in it) he'll do it. He tosses it just say ok and put it on a table he can reach.

Try almond milk too. Don't push it if he is lactose intolerant. One of mine was too and grew out of it by the time he was 2 1/2. It really hurts their belly.

I was thinking lacrose intolerant but also there's a thing called canestian (not sure if that's the corect spelling) in milk that some people don't tolerate, they have a special milk here calle A2.
