crabby Kat's Journal, 06 April 2013

Oh no! See's by home had 50% off their Easter candy; we had stopped by just to get a couple pieces each & there was this sign on the door; the rest is recorded in my food diary. Sigh.

I got up this morning and made coffee & a relatively low-cal bread pudding for breakfast this morning, then gave my partner an awesome spa gift package for a belated birthday present, so the day started out well. Unfortunately, my partner got a headache & got cranky, messed up trying to print out some photos & a picture CD at Walgreens, & got even crankier.

I'm now sitting alone while partner made a solo trip to try again at Walgreen's so we both don't get subjected to the stress if all doesn't go well. My partner needs to (and is ready to) hear Bella's journal of a couple days ago regarding her THING (which so many of us have our own of).

No organized work-out today, but tomorrow morning is Zumba again. I just printed out my recipe for my Energy Bars that my three Zumba/coffee buddies requested after taste-testing them yesterday.

We're feeding a skinny little squirrel that has a hard time getting his share of the seeds & nuts I put out with all the larger birds and squirrels scaring him off. Beau is fascinated with him; I think they're kind of friends. Buddy (the little squirrel) hangs around on the deck while Beau watches from inside, sometimes they chase each other with the glass doors between them.

Had a really good dinner at Cheesecake Factory last night; we both ordered from the Skinnilicious Menu, and had good meals for about 585 calories each. Then we split a piece of cheesecake, something I almost never eat. Stayed under my RDI, though, so that was okay.

Have no idea what to make for dinner tonight, & don't really care. I ate a lot of my Hambone Soup for lunch & don't think I'll be very hungry tonight. Maybe I'll just cook a lot of veggies; grilled cheese or tuna sandwich or almond butter sandwich are all options, or my partner could make some egg salad (not my thing).

Tired; a day of rest with a dose of stress wears me out! Maybe I should turn on my Wii Zumba, entertain the troops, lol.

Haha :-) the thought of Buddy & Beau watching you Wii :-)... I am so wanting ice cream and just had 2 servings of mixed berries hoping it would fulfil the craving. Dumb. Now I'm full but still want the dang cream. The saving grace is mushyface is asleep on my lap so maybe it will pass. If the See's is half off...so should the (calories be).... its only fair :-)

I have Skinny Cow ice cream bars for when I crave ice cream, or frozen fruit bars for when I just want something cold and sweet. Each have some redeeming nutritional value and are relatively low in calories. I wish Beau would sit on my lap; he could hold me back from the See's, lol. When my partner wants ice cream its a pint of Haagen Dazs, so it's better if I'm prepared with my own healthier option. Tonight I filled up on steamed broccoli with some Volcano seasoning, some chipotle lime Good Bean dry toasted chickpeas. After that, a Skinny Cow chocolate truffle bar (100 calories) sounded a lot better than a gazillion See's calories! I didn't entertain the "kids " with my dancing, but Beau is fascinated with my foam roller I use on my tight muscles. He wants to kill it, so I can't leave it unattended on the floor or it will get more teeth and claw marks in it. :o)

Well I finally got the ice cream if for no other agenda to put it out of my 'I want' imagery. It's over. The allure is now gone - tasted terrible. I will probably experiment with a fruit & yogurt blend next time I get the crave for 'cream' - maybe just add vanilla to yogurt & freeze it a little. Then I read an article (appropriately timed) on Calories Count 'how bad foods are good for you' and went to bed (thankfully) not feeling like a loser.
