All in all a really good day today! The scale was more kind to me this morning after yesterday's rude message, words to the effect of "you're gaining weight at an alarming weight of 7.8 pounds a week, are you sure you want to record this" after my 2.something after-Easter feast gain.

I had a good time at Silver Sneakers this morning; stretched well before class, massaged out my tight calves, wore my best supportive shoes laced up just right to support my bad foot. It was great to see my friends; people not in my class say hi to me as I walk past since I'm at the gym so often that many people recognize me or take one class or another with me, or have chatted in the locker room.

Today I saw a woman (an artist) that used to workout next to me in Aqua class (I haven't been going since I found Zumba); it was great to see run into her & chat a little.

I learned something today; I need to know in advance that I'm going to injure myself so I can schedule an appointment to be seen by the proper doctor before months have elapsed!

My primary care doctor wrote a referral to my podiatrist yesterday to be seen for my foot injury that happened March 14. Today the foot doctor's office called before I had a chance to call them; they wanted my business.

Apparently not enough to do so in a timely manner! The soonest I can see Dr. R. is April 30. I asked if I could be seen before that by a different doctor since I've been in pain since March 14. No, she said, their policy is if I've ever been seen by one of their doctors I can only see that doctor. Despite the fact that he's going to be out of town & I can't see him for nearly a month.

Arghhhh! I made the appointment, telling her I'd call and cancel if my foot managed to heal on its own in the mean time. I put a call in to my primary care doctor's office to see about going elsewhere, we'll see. The state of health care!

So, here I sit, trying not to gaze longingly at my pain pills, picking and choosing which exercise classes I can go to, planning around how much my foot can take. Munching on too many dark chocolate espresso pillows from Trader Joe's (not much nutritional value in those puppies, but tasty!)

I love my primary care doctor & her staff! I now have an appointment with a podiatrist at another clinic for Tuesday the 9th, and have called and canceled the appointment with my former podiatrist. No explanation, just canceled the appointment. You would think his office wanted the income from one of their other doctors as opposed to sending that money to another clinic altogether!

I've been sitting altogether too long; think I'll get up and make something creative for dinner with leftover ham; not enough time for the hambone soup today, maybe something simple like a ham and cheese frittata with a side of veggies.
