I used a spoon on this one and ate it inside the peel because it was already pretty ripe. If I'm lucky enough to get a box left on my steps this year, I will slice them up into ribbons and dry the pieces.

certain types you can only pick off the ground. so my hubby and I tried those right off the tree. tasted great...at first. then each bite dried out our lips! And teeth and throat!!
