Rachel116's Journal, 20 February 2013

Today has been an interesting day to say the least. I had my regular check up scheduled for this morning. All of my levels of everything are okay except my weight. The doctor would like me to lose more weight than I have (DUH right?). He is also not satisfied with the speed in which I am losing although it will be a good speed to lose once another 30-50lbs are gone. So here's the verdict. He's changed my weight loss plan around some. I have a 3 day "diet" that is used at Birmingham,Alabama's Hospital Cardiac Unit for patients who need to lose large amounts of weight in a hurry either before surgery or to prevent surgery. This diet is supposed to have me lose between 30-40lbs/month. I do the 3 days then LC for 4 days then back to the diet for 3 days. I will probably only be doing this for 8 cycles/weeks. Then I return to have more blood work done and discuss the results with my doctor. Here's hoping for some extraordinary results.

I've been trying to figure out how I was going to post in the challenges etc. and I've finally decided that I will consider my 4 days in each week for the challenges and record based off of that. I will still be logging my food every day (and you'll see that 3 days every week will be almost identical).

By the time I graduate and start my career I should have a great kick start on a new body too! I'm a little nervous about changing things again but at the same time I'm excited to hopefully see some great results happening.

Oh rest assured you will be seeing me as usual. I'm going to try to be even more active than I have been and I think IF this works it will give me more of a boost of confidence that it can be done.

I will still be in the check in daily (or at least most days). Thank you both for having my back! You are both wonderful and I hope you know that I have your back too! Day 1 went much better than I thought it would...and it can only get easier from there right? I'm looking forward to seeing the changes and hoping things go as well as expected. Thank you both again for all that you do! Jaime, as for the doctor, yes he is absolutely wonderful. When I first went into his office the first words were "the weight HAS to go. We can do it the easy way or the hard way." You will ultimately decide. The easy way is diet and exercise. The hard way was gastric bypass which I did not and still do not want. At least I still feel like I have control over the situation instead of the surgery controlling me.

You'll get there, you have the proper attitude to do the job Rachel. I'm here for you too if there is anything you need at all cause I know you can do this. One day at a time, each meal at a time and soon you'll be whizing through the numbers in a downward spiral. You are in control and that's what counts. Go get em!

Hey Rachel. We know you can do this. I'm so happy that your doctor is providing you with information and guidance. Many Dr's will say you need to lose weight but don't provide the guidance since they don't learn much about diet and nutrition in med school. I'm looking forward to checking out your diet calendar, I hope you don't mind. I'm interested in seeing what your first 3 days look like. You will do awesome and I'm looking forward to reading your daily check in post too!
