crabby Kat's Journal, 28 January 2013

Had a pretty good day today, ending with some wonderful dark chocolate that Neptunebch told me about; Nirvana in a chili chocolate form!

Saw my doctor today after my two Zumba classes. She strongly advised me to cut back on the Zumba, while continuing to exercise daily. My knees are in bad shape, and the pounding Zumba gives them does them no favors. I have a prescription for physical therapy two times a week for four weeks; might be difficult to fit in with my exercise schedule, LOL!

I cannot give up Zumba; I love it too much, it makes me happy. I just have to cut back and try to tone it down a little; no leaping or stomping, those moves can be done more gently. I'm going to willPower& grace tomorrow ; would like to go to CXWORX before that but think the parts we do on our knees would hurt too much. I could go & try to figure out ways to adapt those exercises.it's only a 30 minute class.

My blood pressure was 94/62; pretty good for someone who was close to having high blood pressure a year ago. That & my cholesterol levels make me so happy and thankful. Without the support and challenges and great people here at FS I wouldn't be as healthy as I am today. Thank you all.

thank yourself! You made all the changes! You are amazing :), just take care of yourself. There are a lot of moves in zumba that you can change to low impact & still get a really good workout. Have you tried a different pair of trainers? If yours are older than a year you should consider swapping them. Hope you have a great day :)

I have Zumba shoes that are less than a year old, but I do use them a lot! I have another pair of dance shoes that are more supportive & cushioned (& heavier) that I could use, see if that helps, thanks schmetterling! I changed my picture to show my new skinny jeans, but the picture isn't that good. I'll think about changing it back. :o)

GREAT WORK - and remember, moderation in all things is the key. Maybe switch up the exercise one or two days a week. Swimming?
