Day 2 on a low-carb induction. I worry about the amount of fat, but everyone tells me not to. I am trying to keep the net carbs + sugar under 50. I have never done good on this type of diet before, but everyone in my life insists that I have not done it correctly.. So for one full week, I am going to be amazing on counting on this diet and let's see what happens. I should drop something, and if I don't, it it back to fruits and vegs for me, and very little meat. Anxious to see how this trial turns out. Have a big fun friend night on the 19th, so will be going off diet that evening for the one night. Plan is to be very good until then.

HI, I, too am a smiling grandma to six great kids. Just want to say, you might be disappointed if you stay at 50 grams of carbs and don't get your net carbs around 20-25, which is where Induction phase is. I've been at 25 or so for two weeks and not losing much. Apparently you have to kick start the metabolism so I"m sticking under 20 NET carbs now to see how it goes. Best to read the New Atkins for a New You book so you are clear on the reason why the fat grams don't much matter. If you mix it up, say eating the fat plus fruit, you'll balloon up like crazy. The book says Induction phase for two full weeks under 20 net carbs; then stay on that or transition slowly at 5 carbs a day for one week and see until you find the carb count where you still lose at the rate you want. I plan to stay at Induction level until I've lost half my goal of 40 lbs so at the rate I'm going that may be six months of Induction. I'm starting to add exercise now tho so hopefully will be faster. anyway, good luck!
