Fighting depression and a bad dieting mentality! I know things take time. And, right now looking back on everything, I'm doing fine. I have no reason to defeat myself.

I hate seeing the scale go up and down. Why can't it stay steady or up only 1 or 2 pounds and then down another? My weight fluctuates sometimes 6 pounds in one day. I know I'm steadily losing. I started fitting in my 14's. On New Year's Eve, I was able to buy an outfit that didn't have a "W" on it. 14 skinny jeans and an XL shirt. The shirt is a really big deal.

Some people say to only weigh once a week or so. I'm afraid that if I do that, I'll happen to weigh in on one of my up days, see a gain or no loss, and then give up. At least now, I know I severely fluctuate. I seem to have a pattern in my weight history. I don't weigh in if I've stayed the same or fluctuated. I lose really good for a week, and then basically plateau for another week or two. Should I record everyday to really see if there is a pattern?

I'm only writing this so that I will remember. DON'T LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR GOAL! YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS BECAUSE YOU ARE WOMAN!

Hang in there. I just started reading ATkins New You book and he addresses this issue: the body has a 4 lb flucuation of water weight DAILY. So he suggests either not weighing daily, or if you weigh daily (I do to motivate myself) to write it down, and AVERAGE the last three weigh ins. Over time, that shows you a trend, which you can use to adjust your carb intake. hope this helps. it did for me.

That sudden drop and then stall is not uncommon especially with Atkins and if you've fallen off even for one day. It will eventually stabilize. May I make a suggestion? I peeked at your diet calender and on a few days, your sodium intake is pretty high. Dropping that could help with some of the fluctuation. Also, I can not stress how important water is to the entire process. You should be drinking half of your weight in water every day. Unsweetened tea is also acceptable and does count towards your water intake. One last thing, if you're doing Atkins, you absolutely should be taking in 20 net carbs a day - and 12- 15 of those should come from vegetables. This whole lifestyle change is a process and it isn't easy in the beginning but there is a lot of support here and a lot of people that really know how to do this right that can give you pointers. Good luck and don't get discouraged.

Thank you guys for the comments and suggestions. I will start recording everyday even though I don't want to see the ups on my history. Got to get over that mental thing. So, what is an acceptable range of sodium? I was thinking it might be a problem when I was indulging in the Christmas ham, but wasn't thinking about it regularly. It would definitely make sense.

98% of success is PMA (positive mental attitude), to me, it is a good thing that you are aware how your weight can fluctuate. Tracking your food 100% will probably help you narrow down the reason, then again, maybe not...never know. Good news is, you are buying smaller clothes! PS - I can have the same problem with water weight, so when I suspect that is the issue, daily weigh ins help me, along with totally appreciating the overall progress I have already made.

The RDA is 2400 mg of sodium - and you have to count not only what's in your food naturally as well as any that you add to your food. You can set up fat secret to show you how much sodium is in your food and Angie has posted several good posts in either the challenge group or the low Carb daily check in that outline the importance of watching your sodium intake as well as why water is so important.
