16 weeks. I started this journey on August 26th. I have lost 35 pounds and untold inches (I was too embarassed to measure myself initially). I have achieved my initial goal - to fit into the jeans I wore three years ago. They seem a little dated - but yesterday I put them on and they not only fit - I ended up pulling them up at the end of the day. I then went out a bought a size smaller jeans - and I am pleased to say that they also fit (a little too tight for my tastes, but in another two weeks they should be fine). Soon, I will need to replace nearly all of my clothes; I have run out of clothes that I kept hoping to get back into them one day.

Now - my next personal goals/challenges. I want to be under 200 pounds on January 1, 2013. I want to meet my current goal weight by my 49th birthday. That will be tough, though, and I recognize that. That will mean a loss of 65 pounds in 8 months. I may need to switch up my diet to do so - and I will definitely need to get more exercise into my daily routine.

The first 35 pounds were easy - I put those on in the past three years at my new sedentary job. These next 30 have been around for a lot longer and are the pounds that I have gained and lost dozens of times since high school.

Is it too early to make resolutions? I resolve to continue to feel better and improve my health. I resolve to lower my cholesterol and triglycerides so that I can reduce my heart disease risks. I resolve to not let the naysayers get me down (i.e., You look great, but aren't you afraid you are going to gain it back? Hell yes! But I have worked too hard to let that happen - the consequences are too much to even consider!) And lastly, I resolve to keep moving forward with my weight loss plans and goals. It has been an incredible journey thus far and I WANT to continue.

So, FS members, I look to you for guidance as I read your stories virtually every day. I find inspiration in all of them and know that I am not alone in my struggle.
