Djburney's Journal, 25 September 2012

I'm embarrassed to put my weight on here today, I don't see how I possibly could have gained over 10 pounds on vacation for 6 days. I never pigged out, I stayed away from bread until the last couple of days, I didn't snack. This is so bizarre, but I'm back on track and lost 2 pounds since yesterday. The only thing I did in excess was to drink wine, but I don't know how that could amount to 12 lbs.

I guess you could say that I am more puzzled than discouraged. Can I really gain weight at that pace when I am eating more than usual? Is this what I have to look forward to when I am maintaining my goal?

The diet doctor I met on the plane suggested 2 days of almost entirely protein, which I did yesterday and I plan to do again today. I never thought I would go back over 200 lbs :-(
205.0 lb Lost so far: 42.6 lb.    Still to go: 41.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Do not panic. The thing to do is to get back on track. Our body becomes conditioned to the way we eat...if you deviate it will adjust. Taking in more grains and wine probably cause additional water retention and bulk retention. I am sure those 10 lbs will drop rather quickly. watch, you will spring back to your pre-vacation weight pretty quickly. Protein and water is the key...

Protein and water it is! I took a client out to lunch today, stuck to salmon and a salad, of which I ate very little. The salmon was dry as heck, and the fat-free salad dressing tasted sweet, so it scared me off. Starved when I got home, and the thought of eating meat again sort of gagged me, but I'm finishing these two days and I'll go back to my regular diet tomorrow. I noticed that my ankles seem a little swollen, so I think you are right about the water retention and I don't even want to ask what bulk retention is. I stopped planking about halfway through my vacation, so don't feel bad. I started again today. Ouch, it hurts. Hate it, but hate the flabby stomach more :-)
