I think my scale is on the fritz. Everytime I weigh myself the result goes up by 5 lbs. Maybe time for a new battery.

I know I ate more calories than usual yesterday but I was supposed to do that based on the increased activity. I intentionally added in more carbs, too, to compensate for glycogen depletion from weight lifting. Not sure if I have the amounts right yet, especially since the scale is schizophrenic today.

Friday thankfulness lists are so easy because "It's Friday I'm in love." I am thankful for the breezy weather today. It is making it not seem so hot today. I am thankful for getting a lot of urgent personal chores done this week before the weekend even though I am low on billable hours this week.

Diet Calendar Entry for 14 September 2012:

More carbs tend to bloat me up and I weigh more for a day or two, and ya dont want to overestimate the increase for exercise. We often don"t burn as much as we think. Increase the protein - not the carbs so much. Owww - does this sound like giving advice? Sorry - don"t mean to be; just saying what works for me and might work for you, too. SO happy you joined teh gym!

I'm the same way. I've gained over 5 lbs in one night from excess carbs AND sodium. In fact I expect to if I've been eating that way. I wouldnt sweat the need for glycogen for weight lifting. I do just fine with my low carb diet. I had a great 45 minute intense weight routine yesterday and had plenty of energy. Just gotta get the body used to tapping into the fat reserves for energy. Booyaw! Buuuuut if you really want that glycogen, you could always have some creatine before. You'll get some quick processed sugars for more intense workouts from a source made specifically for increased muscular performance.

Thanks for the info on the creatine. I will look into that. But I mean, literally, every time I step on the scale, it goes up by 5 lbs. First time I weighed myself this morning it said 238. I stepped off and stepped back on, then it read 243... then 248, etc. So I think @HCB is right that I didn't burn as much as the machine says I did, but I also don't really trust my scale, either, so not sure where I currently stand. I was thinking, also, of trying more protein vs more carbs as another experiment through this process. I am open to advice! I may not always take the advice but I will listen to it. :)

I don't remember when we became buddies, but I was looking at your history and journal today, and this is simply amazing! You are doing so well! I love your positive and happy attitude, and the gratefulness for your blessings is just wonderful. You really made my day!

oh, and the scale thing...last week I got on mine and it said I weighed 37 lbs. I've been good, but not that good! So I got new batteries, and all I got was a E instead of my weight so I had to replace the darn thing. Target had a pretty bamboo one that I like, though.
