biblioholic03's Journal, 03 March 2008

Ok well today has been quite a day. I was planning on going to Charleston to do some work, but that didn't happen. Greg was terminated (that's the term his boss used) from his job today. But anyway, it's not bad, we're looking at this as an opportunity. He wasn't that thrilled with his boss (obviously that goes both ways, lol) and we live in a small town and don't know many people here. Plus I'm looking to go to grad school in the next year. Hopefully I'll get accepted to UNC-Chapel Hill, so we're going to start looking at jobs and places to rent and everything in the Raleigh/Chapel Hill/Durham area. A good thing is that he does get paid for the next month, but we are going to cut back on some things; at least we don't do any frivolous spending. If all goes well we'll find something soon and be moved by April 1st!

Does anyone know of good places to live there? One good thing is that my brother, sister-in-law and nephew live there and a friend I know from SC that's moved back home to Raleigh too!

We're not upset about things and are ready to move on!

You have such a good attitude about the loss of Greg's job. And like you said, it could be a good opportunity to do something different. Now you will be so busy with packing and moving, just don't forget to have time for yourself and don't lose sight of your weight loss goals. You can do it and good luck house hunting and job hunting for Greg.

I am sure that this will turn out to be a positive move for you. It sounds like it was meant to be so that it opened the door for you to move and be closer to school and family. Best of luck with the house and job hunt. Try not to let the stress get to you. Even positive moves are stressful!

Wow! I'm so sorry that you two have to deal with this right now. You sound like you have a very supportive relationship. I love that you and Greg are on the same page and focusing on the positives and the opportunities in your future together. Both being available (and willing) to move forward together with your studies and his new job possibilities is a major hurdle in modern coupling. You two are very lucky to have found each other. You sound perfect together!

I bet this will open a new door for Greg. I didn't know you lived in the Raleigh area. Some of my family members are moving there and I might be eventually, too. (I'm in FL, now). Wish I knew something helpful about places to live. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about Greg's job, but you have the right attitude. Obviously he was not meant to be there and he will find the right place. You should put out a post on FS as I am sure someone lives there and can give u insight. You and Greg are in my prayers... it WILL all work out and for the better....Sending good vibes your way friend~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Should I say congrats to your hubby for the opportunity to move on to bigger and better things? Sounds like the move will be great! Close to family and friends - that sounds really wonderful.

I always say...when one door shuts, another one will open...I know what you two are going through, my hubby is losing (fired/not getting another job) from the guy he's been working for. Things went totally down hill when the boss whom happens to be my son's basketball coach called him a racial slur at a game in front of the entire varsity team and was verbally abusing him and other kids (this is the head coach!!). So you can just imagine what that's been like! I can honestly say, I will be glad when this job is finished and my hubby can start looking for something better. Being a self-contractor is tough work, but he's already got 3 jobs lined up starting next month so we'll see what happens after that. You're right, you can't get upset, you just have to move on. Good luck to the both of you!

Sounds like change is in your life! I hope that you are able to keep your head on with your lifestyle with food! Stress can be a problem sometimes. But I will say you sound like you are handling things well! As far as North Carolina - Raleigh area. My daughter-in-law & son just moved from there in July (after 4 years). She graduated Veterinary School at State (he just got out of the Marines). She had a great little house that had easy access to alot of the main highways, nice yard, big kitchen, good neighbors. I could ask her for the landlords name & number. It is in Raleigh not up in Durham. My daughter-in-law & son now live in Myrtle Beach, S.C. while my son goes to the golf academy for 2 years. She was born & raised in Summerville, S.C. (outside Charleston). So I have been in that area a fair amount of times. I love to go to their family beach house in Edisto. Let me know if you want me to check on the landlord information. Best to you & your honey!
