Khbutler's Journal, 12 August 2018

My doctor told me to splurge every now and then. I haven’t since I started this healthy eating thing the beginning of June. Today was my day to splurge! My tummy hurts but BOY it tasted good!
BTW, I only ate 1 of the tacos and drank the soda.👍🏼

I tried to spurge, and I did....sort of. The Mexican Coke is DEF a splurge. The Mexican food too. I just couldn’t bring myself to eat as much as I thought I would. #SelfControl 💪🏽

I think the splurge might be the way to keep moving forward. I watched a McDonald’s commercial today and I swear I thought I was going to have to hide the car keys. 2 for 5.00 Big Mac I could totally do that! But then I remember THAT is why I’m here!

Mexican food... oh how I love Mexican food, and that looks simply heavenly. I've been trying to decide what I'm going to do for my birthday next month. It will also be my six month anniversary since I started Keto, I will have lost over 50lbs, and I feel a splurge coming -- the first in six months. Congrats on enjoying without overdoing it!

So here is the deal.As long as you continue to have the mindset that you are CHEATING when you eat something that you like, you will always view yourself as weak, failing and unable to cut it and looking forward to a life of quilt and deprivation.The goal would be to learn to incorporate things that you would like to enjoy once in a while into the way you eat. That does not mean going to a Mexican restaurant every Friday and having margaritas, chips and salsa, the #3 combo with rice beans and quac/sour cream and just a little flan for desert. If you can master portion control, learn to eat the taquitos from the ala cart menu or work with a friend or partner to split a meal you CAN master weight control for a lifetime. I know, I know — there are people who say this is IMPOSSIBLE for them. Binging, gorging, etc. But for very many people, this is a successful strategy and you can live it forever painlessly.

Kenna - I agree with you completely. Fortunately, my splurge yesterday was the first splurge I had since starting my new healthy eating 2 1/2 months ago. I totally enjoyed it (especially the Mexican Coke w/ sugar, no corn syrup) even though I had only one of the tacos with fajita meat and salsa in it. No beans. No rice. I was totally in control! I’m not beating myself up at all for the splurge. And I got the ‘craving a Coke’ out of my system now....thank goodness!! Thank you for the feedback Kenna!💕

I just hate for people to go on thinking that every time they eat something that tastes good that they areCHEATING. I see that term as being counterproductive. I’m glad you enjoyed your TREAT day khbutler. Sounds like you have this handled.

I'm having a day where I'm going a little overboard with the food, Mexican is absolutely a great way to do it. I had two (cough... ok... moar like four) pastor burritos the other day, with rojo and verde sauce that was to die for. If I did that every day, ok, problem territory, do that once a month, not so much.

SailorEarth - You are correct! This plate is DEF a whole days worth of food! Yikes!! But off this plate I ate 1 of the tacos. No rice. No beans. And my hubs ate the other taco. 😉
