So many people say they don't monitor calories when on KETO, but I guess a lifetime of CICO has me trained that calories matter. I can't make up my mind so I do my KETO macros within a calorie upper limit (1380). This week, I crossed that limit a couple of times and still lost a pound, but would I have lost more? In the entire 5 months I've been on KETO, I've only crossed the line a handful of times...
192.0 lb Lost so far: 43.0 lb.    Still to go: 47.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

I also tracked calories while doing keto but my main focus was macros. I think it’s good to have higher and lower calorie days to keep metabolism guessing?? Mine varied from 1100-1800 sometimes even up to 2000 and I still consistently lost watching my macros.

I track calories and carbs and macros. I had read in the past that you dont have to track calories low carb lifestyle...but new evidence shows you should. IMO Just feed your body the energy it needs.

I definitely track calories and honestly once you have lost a lot of weight it is a smart idea to check out the calorie and macro's for your new body weight on a good keto calculator. If you have also added exercise you may need to update and adjust your macro's. After my 20 pound loss and added exercise, I added a few extra calories and more protein, dropped my fat some to balance. everyone is different.

I can only speak for myself. Because I fast 5 days a week, I have driven my calories as low a you can go :) If my carbs are high (you can take in 40 carbs by drinking a can of Coca-Cola (150 calories)), I will not lose weight, and because my body must retain water to store glucose I have even GAINED weight while fasting. Perhaps it is different with others, but I have 'experimented' with this for months. Now, I will admit I have not tried it the 'other way around', meaning I have not tried to take in say 4000 calories, but only 20 carbs, to see if I would still lose weight.

When I was hard core low carb, I lost weight eating almost 5000 calories a few times. I'm sure my calories in was more that week than out and I was losing.. But I'll never know.. 😁
