"CICO, still skeptical? Come inside for a meticulous log that proves it.
I did it with perfect tracking of CICO for 10 months. Almost nothing but junk besides a daily apple or some other fruit. Here. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=141807961&p=822484731#post822484731

Before and afters are on this page http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=141807961&page=8 Scroll to post #239

I felt awesome the whole time. I got into the best shape I've been in was running 8 miles in 56 min and could bench press more than twice my bodyweight. My main source of protein was pizza...

Before I get accused of promoting bad nutrition, I simply did this as an extreme test because I didn't fully believe that you could eat anything and still lose fat. I tried most other fad diets and never wanted to get on board with counting calories. I did this to prove it could work to myself and for others to witness.

Also, in my profile pic I had lost another 4 lbs and got down to 178. 176 was my lowest before I quit logging.

Example day:
Breakfast
1 large apple
1 serving go lean chocolate malted crisp
1/2 serving Naturally Rising Pepperoni Pizza
1/2 serving Onion Rings
4 oz pork ribs
1 cup salad
1/2 serving strawberry marshmallows

Lunch
1 cup 1% milk
1 medium banana
1.1 servings BANANA BREAD
1 serving ben and jerry's cinnamon buns
1 serving fruit loops
1 serving kellogs frosted mini-wheats

Dinner
1 serving 2% Milk American Cheese Singles
1 serving freschetta pizza
2 servings great value white bread
1 serving oatmeal creme pie
2 servings smoked turkey slices
0.4 serving stax

Example of the accuracy of CICO:
As of Day 126
Total deficit 113033= 32.29
Deficit would put me at 183.71 lbs.
Todays morning weight 183 lbs."

My before image was at 216 pounds. After was 182. I actually ended at 175 or so but don't have any images from then. As I near the same weight now, I don't see much of a difference despite a lot more protein.

Wow. That’s wild! Wish I had the time to manage my health in this way! I’m an analyzer at heart and love to crunch numbers.

One of my favorite early comments on my thread on MFP. "Wish I could show my mom this and have it sink in for her! I grew up hearing her label foods as "bad" or "good" and seeing her struggle with restricting all the "bad" foods, to the point of eventually binging and throwing in the towel. Took me years to shed the mindset I had inherited. I'm sure a lot of people can relate."

If CICO works for you, great. Happy for you. I see it a thing that works for some months, asn is near guaranteed to fail a year or two later. This is one of the reason for many leave CICO in favor to Keto.

Keto is CICO. Every diet is.

And what is the age that a law of the universe is going to stop working? It's worked my whole life, I'm 36. Just want to know how much time I have.

I am 60, it is still working for me, and my trainer who is 70.

Also, you say it works for months and is guaranteed to fail a year or two later yet I've done it for 8 years. Really we've all done it our whole lives, but just to be fair I guess, I've been logging for 8 years.

Keto does not work if it does not have a calorie deficit

Nice work.

no diet works without a calorie deficit, why pick on keto. there are a ton of us here with many with different diets. whole foods, lower carb, weight watchers, paleo based ones, the list goes on. everyone needs to work with a plan that fits their needs. Just seems that low carb and keto gets picked on. people with food triggers need a diet that does not put them where they will binge.

Where on his post is he mentioning keto?
08 Jul 18 by member: rosio19
When I comment on keto is mostly as a reply 😳 Other diets don’t “defend” their diet so no need to reply

They don’t defend on my post or post I comment on * so no need to reply 😉

looks like my kinda diet yum. The one thing people seem to not realize is no matter what foods you eat or how/when the manner they’re consumed. Overconsumption (aka calorie surplus) is the main cause of weight gain, hence why people who eat low/no carb, fast/IF, etc. can for one thing build muscle (hence weight gain) & if not resistance training, gain fat. Here’s 2 good examples of both, 1 person gaining weight (fat mostly) on low carb diet (aka keto) & one building muscle on keto. Both have a net (weekly total) caloric surplus involved. •lady gained 20lbs eating 0 carbs in 2015: https://bit.ly/2KgkKDE •guy who built muscle on low carb diet: https://bit.ly/2G8zE9R Because it’s not the source of carbs or source of fats or source of protein, it’s the amount that’ll dictate whether weight is lost or gained. You can monitor fooods, control insulin/keep low, as much as you want, if a surplus exists at the end of each week, weight will be gained. This also abolishes the argument of “keeping insulin low keeps fat from being gained” that has become so popular in recent years. It’s a minor insignificant factor among non-medical related problems/people. Even then, still can lose weight eating carbs with controlling them & timing when diabetic. Does nobody remember the subway guy? 2 sandwiches a day plus walking hence (diet+exercise=weight loss) that’s about 100-200carbs per day on average... Look up “junk food diets” for more of the same of what Diablo (who also, if I remember correctly does fasting himself as well yes?) is showing examples of, “Twinkie diet” is a good place to start. Add a net surplus to any diet out there, any WOE, regardless it’ll cause weight gain. Add a deficit to the same thing, it’ll cause weight loss. Just up to personal preferences on whichever way or foods someone wants to eat to get there. Biology still reacts the same way to a deficit or surplus. Even in animals.
