Still forging ahead - maintaining my low carb lifestyle - no slips, no 'oh, just this once' ... none of that. Fitting in some activity and exercise every day... not all 'gym' official workouts, but ... whatever!

Trying to keep up w/ my water intake. Been having muscle craps again in my legs and toes while I sleep. I think that was magnesium... will need to do some reading later today.

hope you have a good day!

Ok, this is going to sound really silly but I'm serious... for the leg cramps at night try sleeping with an unwrapped bar of Dove Soap in your sheets at the foot of your bed. I know it's sounds insane but it actually has worked for my mom. When I was having issues I finally gave in and tried it and it actually helped some. I know it's not a guarenteed cure but for 1.00 why not give it a try?

Magnesium could be a cause, as could electrolytes. Are you getting enough potassium as well?

I have the same problem. I was reading last night that one of the possible signs of a low pH balance is leg cramps and I was wondering if that could be the problem. I suppose that could be related to a magnesium/potassium depletion since the body needs those minerals to regulate the pH balance. I do take a daily magnesium and potassium supplement already. I take magnesium and potassium. And I put salt on most everything. And yet I still get the cramping. So yeah, let us know if you find something new to try, please.

Thynes, Nimm, Erin, and Karen - thanks so much for your comments. Turns out...I was dehydrated! I always start from the easiest common denominator!!! And with the heat we were having last week, and the amount of sweating I was doing all day w/ no AC in the house... I apparently was NOT keeping up! (plus I had drank a lot of coffee and alcohol during the previous week while camping and also didn't keep up w/ my water, and it was also HOT!) Cramps are now gone... and I feel so much better, just by getting back to my normal (high) volume of water all day long.
