Happy Wednesday my Buddies!

So...it is AMAZING how important PROTEIN is to my daily function. Over the weekend I had less protein, more carbs and fat and just dragged at the gym and felt easily fatigued.

After TWO days of being back on my high protein plan of 140 - 160 grams per day, I did MUCH better at the gym and actually have energy to get through the day!

WOW...Protein is King, Queen, Emperor, etc...

How much protein do you eat daily and does it help you? Share your story!

I am dedicated, determined, and diligent!

I must agree. I don't think I achieve near your level of protein but I have recently resumed having tuna for lunch daily despite the mercury warnings and feel better. Maybe it's the mercury, LOL. Ironic it's supposed to be the carbs that give us energy. We all respond to different things.

Carbs give only a short burst of energy. I'm not sure where I get my energy, other than eating frequently throughout the day (5 times), and having a strong purpose in my life (my home career, as well as health, of course!). I don't drink coffee - well, the caffeinated kind, that is. I eat between 100 and 160 grams of protein a day. It all depends...especially on the amount of calories I eat a day, which varies. The larger the amount of protein, the better! I feel best at 130 grams (I guess that's right in the middle). I don't notice any difference when I eat more than that. Protein is awesome! It keeps my appetite at bay. Glad you're feeling better and have more energy.

Increasing my protein intake and sat. fats while cutting my carbs WAY down has changed everything for the better for me. Virtually NO depression now too !

Yes! the fats help too as long as I eat nuts, avocado, a small amount of butter/dairy.

I kinda registered as being on the 40-40-20 (protein-carb-fat) "diet," but I haven't quite nailed the perfect ratio. However, I always make it so that I have eaten more protein than carbs and more carbs than fat. Some days, I'm at 50% protein. Do you think there's anything to be worried about eating so much protein? Cheers!

The problem I'm aware of with high protein diet is that it does put extra stress on the kidneys. From what I've read, if you have normal healthy kidney function it shouldn't be a problem. If you have any history of kidney issues though, best to check with your Dr.

I also think the QUALITY of the protein in important too. I use high quality whey protein, chicken breast, ground turkey breast, fish, a few eggs, etc.

Good advice, Vickie. I read that eating more than 35% protein is toxic. I don't know if that's true, but I feel like we're not supposed to eat mostly protein, but more of an equal combination of the 3 macros. I focus on having more protein, because it's hard for me to eat as much of it as I should. But I think it can be overdone and could possibly cause health problems. Anything in excess is not healthy.
