Menopause and weight gain
I believe it is totally possibly to lose weight while menopausal. Set realistic goals, use a journal technique and tool like FatSecret, and incorporate physical activity into your daily and weekly regimen. In January 2011, I made the realization that the extra pounds I was seeing was not muscle and that my metabolism was slowing down dramatically. This was a tough admission since I've been working out consistently for at least 15 years.

I'm 5'2" and was at 146 pounds and climbing. I knew that 1200 cal was too much too soon so I lowered my intake over the next 8 months until I could manage 1200. By August I had dropped to 123 pounds and had not changed my activity level. I already work out a minimum of 3 days during the work week and walk everywhere. My weight is holding and I'm feeling great. I will be celebrating my 57 th birthday this December.

Tips for post weight loss includes maintaining healthy eating habits, ie. not starving your body, continued and varied activity( change it up sometimes) and still journalizing your progress. FatSecret has been wonder tool for me.

By the way, be prepared to unload a lot of your larger sized clothing when you meet your weight loss goals!
