Sandy701's Journal, 01 May 2012

Walked 3.1 miles with doggies along for 1.5 miles. Quite warm again for a May morning....blue skies, full sun.

I made some contractor calls yesterday. I still have more to make but there's one company I KNOW I've seen in the neighborhood that I must have the name wrong, as I can't find them listed anywhere. I'm giving up on trying to do all this landscaping work all by myself. I know I CAN do it, but there's just not enough hours in my day, realistically, to get it all done. These companies have the machinery to get it done with a lot less wear and tear on their bodies, so I guess it's time to get some estimates.

I detest the entire process of dealing with contractors. Nothing against the good ones, but I just hate being in the position of not really knowing who's good and who's mediocre....who's fair in price, who's looking for every way to overcharge, etc. With us moving around so much, we just don't have the knowledge of the local areas where we end up. Even asking around can have pitfalls, as we don't really know whose opinion of "good" is similar to ours.

Anyway, on the positive side, DH and I went through all the leftover paint cans. We got rid of a lot and jotted down numbers and formulas from others, where the colors are still in the house.

Also positive....this AM I dropped another pound, placing me at the point where I tie my lowest weight on this journey - 152. Being as it's the first of the month, however, I won't log it until tomorrow. (If I log a weight change on the first, I get confused as to which month it belongs to and so can inadvertently double-count it.)

WooHoo! I can't wait for you to log that pound down woman! I hope you find a contractor who will do a good job for you at a reasonable price!

Thanks GG....at least I got to change the big "8" on my kitchen bulletin board to a "7" today. When I was 155 for so-o-o-o long, I think the "10" that was up there actually got faded, it was up there for so long - LOL!

Thanks Bren. Hopefully, this time that pound WILL be gone for good. I'm definitely a much happier camper with my Diet Coke.

Congratulations on that last pound - you have nowhere to go from here except down! BTW - I remember your struggles with contractors last year - better luck this time.

Thanks Buffy. I struggle with contractors all the time, but at least "my" HVAC contractor seems to be competent, reasonable, AND does what they promise. They're due here next week to do a seasonal checkup.
