Sandy701's Journal, 29 April 2012

No exercise walking yesterday, but eventually went into the pool for a bit. Earlier in the day, DH had decided he wanted to go strawberry picking at a place he'd heard about from a co-worker.....so off we went early Saturday morning.

It was a really big place with excellent strawberries right in season, so we came home with probably more than we can eat for the week....but we'll give it a good try! LOL! I see a lot of strawberry smoothies for breakfast in my future.

The strawberry excursion was a bit unexpected from DH but I think it's because another co-worker was just diagnosed with a brain tumor that is very advanced and very aggressive. It's the worst kind.....no symptoms until it's too late. The guy has probably had his last Thanksgiving, Christmas....maybe even Halloween. Of course, there are always miracles, but the track record for surviving this kind of tumor is the worst I've ever heard.

So, the takeaway lesson from this is to relish every moment of life and don't put off what you could do today.

Love today's life lesson! I was always told to treat everyone as if it was the last time you would ever see them - because it just might be.

Life can be so sad. My heart goes out to the family. But remember what you and DH have is important and enjoy this day of memories you made with a smile

Totally agree with your takeaway lesson to relish every moment and don't put off doing what you want to do !!! By the way, I believe you also use the Maple Grove Sugar Free Pancakes, well I tried adding blueberries this morning and they were wonderful !

A good motto to live each day by!

Buffy, sometimes it's the unfortunate events like that that bring those thoughts back to the forefront, which is where they ought to be!

Carmel, it WAS a nice, low-key, but fun part of the day. Lots and lots of people out there in a HUGE field of strawberries.....it was obviously a family outing for a lot of families. The sun was shining, skies were clear and blue, and the temperature was perfect.

Notfast, YES, putting blueberries in those pancakes is a new favorite "version" for me. I even popped into the grocery store on Friday just to get some more blueberries so I could have them in the pancakes Saturday morning.

GG, it's a good motto but seems so hard to focus on it when we seem to believe, deep down, that "tomorrow" will always be there. I guess it takes some of these situations to remind us that "tomorrow" is not guaranteed.
