woox2's Journal, 14 April 2012

I'm SO proud of myself! I had the opportunity to get a delicious chili dog with David and I backed out at the last minute.

I could feel myself in that state of frenzy, whole body clenched, ravenous and fiercely focused. At the last minute I took a deep breath and asked what I was capable of doing and I walked away. It was so hard and yet it wasn't once I calmed myself down and turned my back to it (literally).

Instead I came home and made a sensible turkey sandwich and a cup of gazpacho (seems to be my go-to food so far this spring).

I'm not sure I could have bypassed the opportunity for a "treat" without being a miserable person even as recently as a week ago. I really think that the camaraderie of the Compulsive Eating, Overeating... group is helping me out in tough situations.

Thank you buddies and group members. You were all thought of at 3:10 this afternoon!

That is so awesome! I'm having a hard time giving up the chili dogs. So I make my own using turkey hot dogs, low cal hot dog bun, bake beans, ground turkey, and spices. The total calories comes to 480 vs 595 for my old chili dog. I'm getting there I keep fixing it.

Good for you for resisting!! I do the same thing as puffpuff occasionally, except I'll omit the bun and just do the chili or beans with the hot dog and some onion. Sometimes, if you're craving it, it's okay to make it at home, just do a healthier version. And, if you're out and you can resist that's great because that temptation is so hard. I had one of those days on Saturday, we went to dairy queen and I caved and got a blizzard even though I really didn't need it. I'll think about your will power next time!
