Having a hard time this morning trying this fast thing. I keep thinking omg I'm starving! If I drink something it's going to get worse. But at least I only have a half hour to go before 12 hrs.... I think at that point I'll have to break this fast. It's REALLY tough to do this while at work at a desk! :(

I wish I was gardening, hard labour puts a damper on hunger that's for damn sure!

Don't fast. If you fast your body will hold on to the last thing you ate and store it as fat.

But they say intermmittent fast is effective.

Intermittent Fasting is VERY effective IMO. Lots and lots of people on here do it, especially LCHF eaters!

Rckc, how do you keep from "starving" at a desk job? Like how do you keep yourself busy enough to forget food when it's mundane?

Redgirl, is that allowed during a fast? That's not a zero calorie drink though.

I am LCHF. I drink my coffee with coconut oil early morning and again around noon. My understanding with it is that it does not spike blood sugar and interrupt my IF. I don't work at a desk. I go to the gym in the morning. I'm not hungry because of the fat in the coffee. In the beginning I think it was more habit than hunger that made me want food. I only eat one meal a day. Usually. I've had my moments in the last year and a half.... As long as I stay low carb I'm ok. When I eat carb heavy the cravings and HUNGER comes back.

Try the fast at your last meal then break it next afternoon.

Cnith, perhaps one thing that is prompting your hunger is starting your day with milk. I have done many fasts, several 3-7 days with only water and 1-2 cups herb tea. When ever I start consuming any calories in the morning, it triggers my hunger and I the urge to eat becomes all consuming. Fasting helps your body in that it rests your digestive tract among other things. Humans can fast with great health benefits regardless of what our $$ driven consumerism would have you believe. There is a great deal of information out there...educate yourself as best you can so as not to be fearful...Yes, you can do this!! :)

I was on the RICE diet once. I was on it to see if it would help my allergy. I think it was the chemicals at the golf course. I played almost everyday... When I just had to eat something, I added a little fruit and went a second week. When I heard about an herb from a friend I began to take that which helped I lost about 20 pounds. But now let myself go and had a stroke. I believe it was diet and pharmaceutical related. So now I want to eat to live and not live to eat.ted

A 7 day fast wow I just did a 3 day and it was so hard, you are right Cnith the minute you want to stop food your mind freaks out, just remember 3 and 3 you body can go 3 days with our water and 3 weeks without food, it is not easy at all, I know you have the strength.

Becca P my "breakfast" was at 10 this AM, much later than my usual 7am. I think Rckc might be on to something. It could be habit, not hunger... My mistake was not bringing my water bottle, all I had was my milk for the fast break so that wasn't useful. Tomorrow I'll try the water bottle and hide the milk. Tea might be helpful too. Thank you Bruce. Maybe I'll start my fast earlier in the day, like instead of 10 at night maybe start it at 6pm.

Many people stop eating by 7pm. so if you start from there and go til 11am that would be 16 hours and give you an 8 hour window to eat, 16/8 IF is pretty common. AND if you drink some fat in coffee/tea in morning it will really help with the hunger and doesn't break the fast.
