Penlan's Journal, 18 March 2016

The aged parents arrive tomorrow for an open ended stay. We cancelled Christmas because of flooding. Making up for it now, on the feast and celebrations list is:
Christmas
New Year
12th night
Burns night
Valentine's
Wedding anniversary 1
Mothering Sunday
Birthday
Wedding anniversary 2
Good Friday
Easter Sunday...

Yup, we intend to party and make up for lost time. I wonder what will happen to my weight during this debauched time of eating, drinking and making merry. If there is one thing the old folk like to do it's party with food and drink!

Actually I am looking forward to it.
Lots of cooking special meals. Nice.

We can't go rowing on the lake as it's being nested by ducks and geese so no champagne breakfasts on the water this time, we'll save that for the midsummer birthday.

Now, what are the odds I continue to lose weight..........??

Celebrate with the "aged parents" doing whatever makes them happy, being thankful you still have them. DH and I each have our Mothers, our Father's are no longer with us and we miss them.

Absolutely right, Life is for living, I agree girls! We see so little of them we will make the most of every day we have. They are not that aged actually for these days at 77, but turning three score years plus 10 so doing ok. We joke about me looking forward to me wheeling them around in tandem, or in turns. The day could well come yet, though they are still pretty active and capable in all respects, including partying wildly.... I woke with the realisation that we also definitely need to add the spring equinox to the list, very worthy of a good celebration, and mother for some reason is fond of the Ides of March as a day of note....

You missed St Distaff's day, Pancake Day, St David's Day, and we still haven't done MY birthday :) Then there's Chinese NY. And it's my brother's birthday today ... it's a biggy for him as he's 10 yrs younger than me.

So - another 6 parties, not sure about CNY though.... and I don't know your bro, but hey, any excuse. I know there is another itching in my memory too somewhere... Ooh, how about St Patrick's? We just missed that too. AND St Blaise - he's an important figure for us! I LOVE parties. (hic)
