Rae_Dorton's Journal, 17 March 2016

So trying something a little different this time around. I am working out 5 to 6 days a week and cutting way back on my carbs. Only allowing myself 50 to 60 carbs a day. This is very hard, due to the fact that soooooo much food have carbs. What are some good healthy foods that are low in carbs that I can add to my diet. Thanks for any ideas.

With the amount of working out that you plan on doing, I wouldn't cut myself so low on carbs. Best way to add brown rice and sweet potatoes into your meal before the workouts so your body has energy and you won't get completely burned out. It might seem like a lot of carbs per day but your body will work through them quickly

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I am going to incorporate these into my diet plan. Nothing else seems to be working for me. The weight will just not come off. Hoping this give me a push start.

we love baked sweet potatoes with some honey and salt. They are "good" carbs so you don't get too tired.

Meats, above ground vegetables, healthy fats. I snack on pepperoni slices, either right out of the package or microwaved or baked crispy, dipped in some sour cream.

those good carbs spike your insulin. Be careful.

Love spinach, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, peanut butter. Very glad that cheese is acceptable for low carb. I am a cheese addict, and my previous diet was to so hard because cheese was not allowed.

I really try to stay away from any type of starches. Potatoes, etc... but I love fresh fruit and veggies. Just trying to find the lowest in carb for fruit is hard.

Why would you need to add carbs to your pre-workout. If you give your body carbs to use, it will use those carbs instead of the energy it has stored..i.e., Fat. For low-carb foods, do some research and you'll find a lot of what you think is unhealthy is actually not. A good place to start is dietdoctor.com , where you'll find a lot of good information to get you going.
