sproe's Journal, 11 September 2015

A slight bump up the scales this week, but I've decided to get off my duff and do something instead of just work, computers, and TV. Had the day off and I had already determined I wasn't going to just veg out which is what I usually do after a week of long-hour workdays and overwhelming projects.

So just for fun I went outside and moved a dead tree from the yard to the swale where the county will pick it up. Wasn't easy considering I rarely do more exercise other than walk to my car. Also not easy when the only tools I had were a hand truck, a small cart and a pair of work gloves.

Fortunately I managed to get the thing up onto the hand truck and drag it out as far as the gate, before it started to fall apart and ended up in the middle of the drive in a heap of dead wood. Took me another hour to scoop up pieces of dead tree and get it to the curb, but it's done!

And surprisingly enough, I feel better for having accomplished something not work-related and having gotten a good bit of exercise at the same time! Here's to breaking out of the routine however you have to do it!

Good for you. I always feel better when I accomplish something, though lately I am lucky if I can make myself get out of bed on a day off.
