THAT is a great article - metabolic adaptation makes perfect sense to me as the body adjusts quickly to what we feed it and the activity level we pursue.

Noooooo! I don't think I wanted to know that! But it explains why weight loss is so slow. My rule of thumb is: if I'm not losing weight, reduce calorie intake a little till I do. But I think going below about 1100 cals per day for me is counterproductive. Metabolism slows down, and also some serious hunger kicks in, and result is likely to be breaking diet.

Thanks for posting that article. It was eye opening. Too bad about that old chestnut, 3500=1 pound though. It was easy to calculate. :/ My biggest problem is estimating activity level. I think I underestimate it in an effort not to overestimate it, if that makes any sense. Oh well, all we can do is try.
