Jonathan Walsh's Journal, 03 May 2015

Well, it's just not been my week. My wreck, the aftermath of car rental hell, & then Manny lost the fight last night. Oh well, glad it's Sunday & the sun has risen on a new week. I will be using the day to prepare for my conversation with the Idiot Box in the morning. With my big week last week, I'm just looking for a minimal loss.

The message today is to keep moving forward. No matter the obstacle, no matter the challenge; backing down is not optional. Even when you're behind on the scorecard, keep throwing punches. Our fight can be won several ways; but can only be lost one way, by quitting. You find what works for you. You stick with it no matter what. You do not quit no matter what. You will win. Tenacity, will lead you to victory. Fierceness, will keep you climbing. Focusing on that peak, will get you to that peak. Onward & upward gang. You win this fight on the inside; & the outside will take care of itself.

Lord I hope I have a better week. Thanks for all the support & well wishes out there on the mountain side on my behalf. It is greatly appreciated. A person always remembers that extended hand of help when they are down. I feel your support. I felt it awhile ago in the gym. You all are responsible for me stretching my walk from five mile to six today. Thanks for carrying my spirit these last few days; for my heart has been too heavy for me to carry alone. (And yes, I know "It's just a car," but I've explained how I felt about that already.) No more time to whine. My kids are starting to mock me. Hope all you carriers of spirits & climbers of mountains had a good day, a good weekend, & are ready for the gifts tomorrow will bring. Stay tenacious out there; for we are the force that will break this mountain gang. Oh, by the way, STT I don't decide who's on the team, you do. You keep coming. You keep bringing it. You keep packing a good attitude & effort for lunch every day; & you stay on the team. The secret lies within the reflection in the mirror. Keep building the better you & keep climbing; that's all there is to it. A long while ago I told someone there were two rules foe success on this journey. Rule #1 - You never quit. Rule #2 - When all else fails, see rule #1. Those rules are guidelines. It's that simple or it's that complicated.

You kids are starting to mock you??? Phhffttt...when they are old enough to drive (if not yet old enough) they will want their special vehicle!

HCB that's the weird thing about my kids. They are 20 & 18 and don't care one iota about cars. They are obsessed with technology. Computers, video games, Ipads, Ipods, PlayStation, X-Box, phones, etc; but don't care nothing about cars. I actually read in Kiplinge's that this generation does not associate social standing, status, or brand loyalty with automobiles. It is a coming marketing nightmare for the automobile industry.
