Good Morning, FS Warriors! Slept in until 6:30 this morning. We did go see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes last night. There were some bas a$$ monkeys in that movie. It was quite an unusual experience for a number of reasons. First, it is a struggling little local movie theater. It's up for sale; they don't have the $80,000.00 it takes to go from analog to digital, and therefore they can't get and play all the latest releases. 2nd, since they are not drawing the crowds, they don't have the heat turned up, and it was pretty chilly in there. We all wore the same things in the theater that we wore coming in from the cold. There was only 5 of us in the theater, which leads me to my next interesting point. Two old friends, that used to run the local Sirloin Stockade before they retired, walked through the doors with a chipper young girl in tow, whom we had never seen before. She obviously had Down syndrome (and she later proudly told me that she was 41 years old). Well, I said something like, "Hi Guys!," and this girl runs up to me and throws her arms around me and hangs on for dear life, asks me what my name is, and just attaches herself to me. They were going to see the "Despicable Me 2" movie on the other side of the theater because they thought the Apes movie would be too scary for her. The young girl behind the popcorn stand told us it wasn't scary, so the girl said she wanted to sit with me. To make a long story short, this bubbly and friendly girl, whom I have never seen before, sat between DW and me, and our friends sat a row down from us and toward the middle. Her name was Ginger and she really enjoyed the movie, and so did we. We had a tub of butter popcorn that neither DW or I could eat because it was so salty and buttery. Ginger had her own, which her friends had bought. I think our friend works with special needs people and children and had become attached to Ginger. They were tickled that we let her sit with us.
So, anyway, got a little off course there. Ran 9.36 Easy miles on the treadmill this morning. Now, I'll be honest with you, there is nothing Easy about running 9.36 miles. It just means I didn't try to run fast. I have never seen the miles tick by so slow in my life. I didn't know if I was going to be able to see my grandchildren grow up or not. Talk about Self-Talk, I had to talk myself through every stinkin minute. The last half mile lasted at least 20 miles, I am sure. LOL! I ate a banana before my run, and half of a granola nut bar halfway through the run. My watch and the treadmill said I burned about 1880 calories. It was grueling, but I maintained pace, and ran it non-stop. Got er done!
DW is over cooking the Veterans Day dinner at the American Legion today. I will probably go over and eat at about 5 o'clock. I'm sure they will have the usual fare of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans, a roll, and some deserts. It's always good. I love the cherry coke salad. They always have it, I think because I insist on it. I think I shared the recipe on here before.
Well, anyway, the day is still young, and I need to go see what mischief I can get into. I hope everyone has a wonamous weekend. I will talk to you later. Toodles!

So sweet that you and DW got to enjoy the sweetness that many of the people with Downs display. Great effort on the running. Good luck with the Veterans Day dinner. J
