wholefoodnut's Journal, 19 October 2014

The brain fog seems to be lifting this am, this is good. Totally lazy day yesterday, kept trying to accomplish things and giving up, somehow managed about 3600 steps in my attempts. Slept 11 hours. Yikes!! Again. Will definitely watch out better for dog toys on the wood floor in future :))). This has not been fun.

Another beautiful fall day. My body does not like this inactivity. Chores today, have to hit a couple stores for necessary items, mow the grass, laundry, etc. So my week won't be totally disorganized. Hoping I can get through the basics, getting outside some will be good.

Will try Chris's link about a homemade protein powder but will adapt it a bit. I will use soybeans only for the beans (have some in my pantry) and thinking about what else to add. I think I have some arramanth which is a very high protein grain that I may add instead of the rice or oats. I always have an assortment of whole grains and beans on hand.

To start my day, instead of putting on old too big clothes like I did yesterday, I'm going to find something that makes me feel good. Most of my fall/winter clothes are too big. Really need to squeeze some funds to go shopping thrift and bargin stores of course.

Jeri - reading your journal lately seems to echo my life - I just remembered I didn't even step out & pick up the paper yesterday. Or today (yet). And I didn't even have a dog toy related injury! It may seem unproductive to you but this resting time is necessary for your recuperating. Your body is saying 'give me a break for a few days, will ya?' and it deserves a little kindness. I too may try that protein powder once all mine runs out. I'm trying to learn not to just toss stuff ... had I not seen that in Chris journal I'd have just continued. I'm always on the fence about the 'too big' clothes. I like something form fitting beneath just to keep me aware of my own physicality but like the big shirts as a weird sort of 'armor'. I'm sure it relates back to not feeling 'little and vulnerable' or something. Another day. Beautiful Sunday here; hope yours is too.

Bella, I gave myself permission partway through the day yesterday to succumb to my body telling me to rest. I know rest is the only way my body will repair itself. Doesn't mean I like it!! Especially with winter on the way. I too like big shirts, but I think I also feel better now with a top underneath that fits. Even my jeans are too big again, held up by a belt and feel baggy. I try not to toss stuff and use it up, though I am again amassing clothes to donate, took a big bag to the salvation army on Friday. Funny on food, I tend to use some things that no longer fit my WOE up on my grandkids. They are so active they burn though calories like crazy and are always hungry. Wish I could get through the stash of bottled salad dressings in my frig.

Glad you are starting to feel better. I thought of you today when I stepped on a cat toy. Her toys are squishy little octopi so it's more of a "ew what did I just step on" reaction.

Glad you didn't crash as well. The sun still hurts my eyes even with tinted glasses and a ball hat, so unfortunately working on my inside chores. It's too nice to be inside. At least I'm getting my house chores worked on.

Slipped on a dog toy on the wood floor and hit my head, symptoms of a mild concussion. Not a good week, but much better now.
