shiny50's Journal, 03 September 2020

Got on the scale this morning and I have now lost 68 lbs. I feel like I look the same. I look in the mirror and I don't see a difference. Very frustrating. I do have before pictures, but can't figure out how to post a before and current picture on this darn app.

I am also battling depression right now. Walking helps my mood, but still can't walk because of this heel pain. I have started lifting some light weights and working my core so maybe that will help. I have been dropping weight every week, but still feel like just giving up sometimes. Oh well, this to shall pass. Sorry for the negativity, it's just honestly where I am at lately. Sometimes it helps to just write it down and vent.

You are doing great! I have not lost weight since the pandemic started (actually gained 10). So, keep doing what you're doing.

Everyone get down now and again and being honest about it will probably help others to know they aren't the only ones. The walking can wait until your heel is better, so concentrate on the other things you can do like the weights. You are still losing weight every week so please don't give up. Best wishes.

You have come so far and done so well! Please don't give up. You are an inspiration to some and may even be helping others on their journey without even knowing. Looking over your posts, it gives me hope that I will also be able to beat this pain and win this battle. You have people here that believe in you. You deserve to believe in you, too! 🤗 You've definitely got this. Keep fighting the good fight and keep getting stronger. We're here with you! 😊

Had heel pain, got quality Orthotics, Problem fixed. ( Orthotics are more than just a heel pad or shoe insert you can buy at most athletic stores. They’re highly customized shoe or heel inserts made for your feet.)

There is zero chance you look the same. I have thought the same thing in the past after losing weight, but after gaining it back, I looked back at my low and thought I looked so skinny. Our brains are crazy that way. I guarantee you look very different than you think you do. In any case, think about how much more healthy you are with that kind of loss!!!

I have a friend who lost a ton of weight but could not see it in the mirror. With my encouragement that she was tiny, she tried on her daughters jeans and they fit. Perhaps you need to try on smaller clothes? it might help reset your brain so you're seeing your weight loss

Perhaps put the before and after pictures into separate entries as a workaround for the moment. (i.e. here's my after picture; see coming entry for before picture!) I have no doubt your body enthusiastically thanks you for treating it so well by making it lighter! I am inspired. My own progress is ridiculously stop and go. Here's to getting to the other side of this rough patch.

A friend and I were pretty much the same height and weight and we both had come to the realization that we could not see how fat we were. And we knew we were both 40-50 lbs overweight and it had to "show"! So I want to assure you that absolutely you DO look different - better - after having lost 68 lbs! Your head may not be registering the change, so get in touch with the difference in how your clothes fit and look at before and now pics, notice how much easier it is to move. Agree with OldMan72 on orthotics - you need to support your arches better when there's heel pain. Do not go barefoot - wear shoes with arch support all the time. Custom orthotics can be expensive but you can get good results with over the counter products such as Superfeet.

You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for your words of support and encouragement. I have been feeling really down lately. But, just putting my feelings down in writing and then seeing your responses, has brightened my mood tremendously. I will look into the orthotics...I really need to be active again.

Awesome weight loss! You are doing great. Please don't let a few "down days" dim your enthusiasm.

You can do it! I know it’s hard but everything will get better.

Congrats!!!! You are doing amazingly well. Do you have plantar fasciitis? If so sometimes some pads in your shoes will take the pressure off. Endorphins from exercise can really help with depression.

Congratulations on reducing your weight that much! Wow! You inspire me! I do understand what you mean by looking at the pictures..... I felt the same looking at my own. Don't give up! You CAN do this! And you deserve it!
