I need to get back here and be regular. I havent felt like I have had a lot to say but the truth is we all tend to post trivialities of our day, the occasional amusing comment heard and sometimes our deep thoughts. So, I am going to try and be regular on FS, even if it means boring the crap out of people.

I once wrote on the importance of journaling and it is truer than ever for me right now. When I was journaling regularly, I was more focused. I had all my friends supporting me and pushing me forward. I had my best buddies, some of who may have had problems of their own but by being able to support them in their times of need, I boosted my own morale. The FS support system is a vital line to success and maybe my complacency stems from being away so long.

SON WISE WORDS

Two days ago, I suggested that we all go to McDonalds and my son looked surprised and asked.."What happened to your diet?"

"I am done with it now" I replied. "Weren't you just a few pounds away from your target though?" he said . Yeah...I was 140lbs and 5lbs shy of my goal. "Well I think you might as well just get to the end and then leave your diet if you want to...it makes no sense to put all this effort in and then give up at the finish line".

When a 15 year old kid comes out with such wise and true statements, you know you need to listen. So I am going to try and get back into a diet mode. I cant go back to the exclusive 20 carbs or less because I enjoy bread and milk. I think those are the two things I will never be able to live without so Atkins wont work for me as a maintenance program.

What I have been doing though is still using Splenda in my hot drinks (tea, coffee) and trying to throw veggies into everything I eat. Also, for breakfast I eat between 1/2 to 1 slice of bread instead of 2.

I am going to try and reintroduce salads back into my life, at least until I get to 135lbs. Current problem is that my weight has shot up to 145lbs so now I am 10lbs shy. I know if I go onto Atkins induction at least 3-4lbs will disappear immediately but I just don't have the motivation to go on it yet.

More tomorrow!

That was cute that your son said that! Children are very observant aren't they. Just when you think they are ignorning you, or not listening, they surprise you with something like this! AND...he's right, you have come so far to not complete your journey! its easy to get off track with summertime, and all the parties and BBQ's. Take each day one day at a time, its okay to splurge once in a while. Sounds like you are also re-evaluating your diet too. I know for me I could never do Atkins, only because i'm a carb junkie (and I play volleyball...so would die without my carbs!). i think you have the right plan by coming back to FS and journaling more regular, to get the support and focus you need! good luck! =)

hey liberty- wht kind of bread are you getting. Try a sprouted bread. there are all sorts. they are higher in fiber than normal over processed stuff and there are flax loaves and wheat and squirrely(lots of nuts and seeds yummy)bread. "healthy way" one brand is called found it in a bread store(you know the kind that sells only bread, like a "hostess" outlet)for like a buck and some change.15gr carb 4dietary fiber 5g protien! it is awsome- i wisk they would sponsor me! maybe not so spunky for induction, good for maintaining without getting outta control! and you know how to carb down that milk , right?! good luck on those last five lbs, the slower the better- eh!!

There you are! We miss you when you're gone! Your son is wise for his years. Glad he set you straight :) Even if you aren't on "a diet" I'll bet there are healthier places to go than McD's!

Tell your son we LOVE him!!! He's so right -- sounds like a very intelligent young man. Do look for some brand of low carb bread -- I have one that's 5 per slice, and that gets me by. And see if you can switch yourself to cream instead of milk. I really LOVE milk, but that has worked for me.
