From Storeroom to Soreroom

Worked 5 hours today cleaning & organizing my very messy crap packed storeroom. My plan is to get a treadmill but no way I would bring it in there - well it wouldn't have fit and I'm referring to a 400sgft space! So today was repacking / stacking storage bins and sweeping. Filled up four city garbage cans. I probably have another five hours and six tubs to go to be done. My legs are aching tonight! Better workout than any treadmill for sure.

Way to go. I'm on the same mission. I figure I have weeks of digging out ahead of me.

Thanks. I've been stalled for month's - well years. Three months & 50lbs ago no Way I'd have been able to work so long and hard at one time. It felt good even though my legs are aching tonight.

Good for you! It feels great to get organized, doesn't it? I'd just cleaned out my closet (well, most of it, at least!) & it felt so good & I can actually find things in there again. Plus, I found some items I'd forgotten I had!

Oh yes - I have OCD remember? This room has been off limits because MH is a packrat and wont let me discard things but never feels well enough to sit in there and sort with me. So my compromise was to rebox all of it from cardboard boxes onto stacking tubs. I want to go back in there tonight and do more but too tired. Ah another day.

GO YOU! BELLA! YOU fricking ROCK! I use my leftover OCD from childhood to enjoy sorting and rekindling rooms! My church (which because of work schedule I haven't been to in a long time) has a "benevolent mission" which I was last a part of. The mission was to go into people's homes where the owner was convalescing or handicapped in some manner, and remove all the dirt, trash, dog hair, cat hair, etc. And vacuum, steam clean, wash linens, paint, replenish, and reorganize their lives. I was OCD as a kid...around 7. It was associated with trauma in a situation beyond my control as a kid. Since then, OCD is different for me. I actually enjoy it now! Go you! I'd love to talk about it when and if you're ready. It's an amazing journey we're on! I'd love to know more about what you're really going through. Love, Deb

Oh my gosh Deb, thank you! And yes, I'd love to hear your OCD trauma whenever you want to share. This should make it easy for you too: when MH was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago I organized a closet even to the point of arranging the EMPTY plastic hangers by color and hue (white, then pink, then green, dark blue then black.) I was the perfect storm of 'Sleeping with the Enemy' and 'As Good as it Gets.'
