Okay, time to get serious again. Played around the edges for these many months. Dealt with illness, allergies, and a horrific work schedule. The journey begins a new...

Thanks to all for the comments on my recent journal entry. Great stuff and just one more reason I love this site. Now, on to my over analyzing of my weight loss journey... :)
With all of my data analysis I realized one other thing that I was not taking into consideration and thanks to Tiswango for pointing out water weight. Another activity on my Monday to Wednesday gym excursions, besides exercising like a banshee, was my use of the steam room. I love it as it is very relaxing, and from Internet research, if used correctly, has some very healthy components to it. I originally discounted its affect as I drink well over 128 oz of water a day and make sure when I exercise that I stay well and truly hydrated. Still though I drink the same amount of water outside of exercising. One component of the steam room though would be additional water weight loss. It hit me this morning when I picked up my Bubba keg full of coffee how heavy it was. I should therefor expect some weight gain from water and not stress out on it. What should be more concerning is primarily focusing in on eating well over the Thursday to Sunday time period and not worry about a fluctuation of a couple pounds here or there. With that in mind calorie control, within reasonable limits, will be my prime focus over this period.
Lets be honest, the true test is how you look and feel. I am now at the stage where I am putting away my size 40 pants and getting all of my size 38 pants back out. They fit comfortably in all cases and are indicative of the fact that I have lost both weight and girth. I have also grabbed a size 36 back out to try on in the coming months. Today I actually went to the basement (growing up in California I never had one of these and love the extra space) and pulled out a couple of shirts to replace ones that are over sized. I also feel healthier, happier and more engaged in life. It is these things that are the true measure of success. Thanks again to all the awesome members of this great site...

I finally had enough data to transfer to an Excel spreadsheet. After analysis I found a few interesting things. The first was that I have been losing on average about ten pounds from Monday to Wednesday and gaining on average about three pounds from Thursday to Sunday. Reviewing why this was occurring I noted that I go to my Gym religiously on the days I lose weight and not on the days I stay flat or gain. The other thing I noted from this is that on the days I gain weight my caloric content is much higher and specifically that dense 9 calorie per gram of Fat content. Also the carbohydrates are higher on those days. My conclusion and what I am going to focus on is being more careful about my caloric intake between Thursday and Sunday, specifically targeting the higher fat intake. I will also try to exercise a bit more than I have been on those days. Exercising more though is difficult given that the kids have more activities on those days and my wife works on the weekends which has me spending a load of time with the ankle biters. I love my time with them and schedule a lot of activities but I do not get the time to do extra hardcore exercising. Maybe an additional hour can be squeezed in for their old fat grampa man daddy. Knowing your problem is the first step in solving it and now that I know, I will solve it. Lord I do love this site...

Today I went yellow on my tracking bar. With the weekend coming up and my continued failure to control my weekends I am sure I will go orange once more before being permanently in the yellow. This was one of my milestones, that being 240 lbs, which is a loss of 50 lbs for the year. I am happy with the steady progress but need to control my weekends. Journal-ling, but more importantly being religious about tracking my Food and Exercise have helped a lot and I have enough data to study and determine where I am going wrong. Here is hoping I have a better weekend...
