Well, went away to Asheville for the weekend (belated anniversary trip with my wife - married 17yrs March 11th)

The good -
Well, I didn't overeat, thought I made some sensible dining choices, and definitely got plenty of exercise. The trip was refreshing sans kids, and was very nice. For those who have never been, Asheville is a great little nitchy place, plenty of little shops and street performers ( or as I referred - kids that should be working or have a job sitting around looking like hippies, playing guitar)We did a couples massage at Shoi retreat, as well as an hour hot tub soak - highly recommended!!!

The not so good -
Most of my calorie intake was beer - but I kept track, so I will know the damage when I get around to entering my weekend data - not exactly the place to ask for a low calorie local microbrew!

Did not drink as much water as I am used to - probably about 60oz shy for the weekend - not bad, but could have been better.

the food I did eat was GLORIOUS!!! Everything we had was good - If you've never been, I highly recommend Carmels in downtown, back side of the grove arcade.

I weighed myself friday before I left - 218....was a little more than that this morning - hoping to get back to that number by Wednesdays weigh in.

Uh, where to begin...

I've realized very quickly that this commitment is going to be tricky when real life scenarios play out - Right now, I live and work in Atlanta during the week and go home to see the family on weekends, until school ends and they move here. It's been a perfect little setup for me to kick start my lifestyle change, since I can keep minimal amounts of food (and snacks) in the apartment, and really force myself to have discipline.. The challenge will be events like my weekend, where I have to accommodate my family into the equation of food decisions and frequency.

First off, it was a ROUGH weekend... Starting Friday, with dinner... Now Mexican is my weakness, and when Kari suggested we go out, I was already getting the jitters - thought I'd be sensible, and skip the alcohol (bummer) and get the "healthy" meal, mixed fajitas but after eating 1 fajita and then meat, the refried beans called out to me, as did the rice... For the first time in 2 months I ate and was stuffed - what a struggle...

Saturday was lacrosse all day, so again, had to eat out - more seemingly healthy choices, yet high calories - in the end I ate more calories this weekend than I do almost in a week! Sunday was my 17th anniversary, and my wife wanted to make breakfast so I indulged her, and tried to be sensible on the drive back to Atlanta with some tuna...

All in all, I did not do terribly, but I definitely did not feel good - actually sluggish and a real bad headache for the last 2 days - maybe carb overload or lack of caffeine, who knows.

What I do know is I am going to Asheville next weekend for my anniversary, and that combined with St Patty's day will make for another challenging weekend, so I need to work hard this week to make up.. I expect a rise on the scale, and hopefully do not undo too much hard work..
