I am soon going to be 49 years old and have not had a weight problem for most of my adult life. That changed when I decided to have two more children in my 40's. Though I love my daughters, now 6 & 7 dearly, my body has paid the price. After my last child, which was my 4th, my belly never went away, it just dropped and has stayed there for the last 6 years. So now I am facing pre-diabetes and my doctor told me she wanted me to go on a low carb diet. She didn't specify any particular one, so I chose South Beach. I did join the South Beach website also, so I could get the meal plans, but haven't exactly paid much attention to them. I am hoping that I will stick to this diet and finally get back down to my normal adult weight, 135#. As for the rest of my life. I am a private duty RN who works with one 11 year old disabled child in his home. It is a very nice job with very little stress. I have 2 adult children. My son is 25, married and is working on baby #5, all girls. My daughter is 24, and a student at a local college. She works full time and lives nearby. She has had the same boyfriend for the last 6 or 7 years, but no engagement ring yet. My husband and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary in a couple of weeks and are looking forward to many, many more.
