Hi all! My name is Tina, and I am 58 years young, married 30 of those years, and have 3 grown kids, two grandchildren, 1 dog, two cats, and 10 chickens! Fresh eggs-yes! Grew up in MD, now reside in KY. I have struggled with weight most of my life. Food always seemed more important to me than my siblings, I grew up using food for comfort, friendship, dealing with all sorts of negative and positive emotions. My mother, whom I lived dearly, was very body concious ( those were the days when the ladies' magazines started, and Jack Lalane was on tv.). She was always commenting on my weight, trying ti put me on diets, and really seemed to be embarrassed by me. Funny thing is, when I look at my pictures I was pretty normal! Not a stuck but not obese by any means!
I had bariatric surgery 8 years ago. I lost 108 lbs. Had lost 15 before surgery. Last couple of years, the weight has Vern creeping back on. Had ankle surgery in Oct. Developed tendonitis and have been extremely sedentary since then. And...I gained twenty pounds!! I am at my highest weight since the surgery- 216- and scared. I don't want to go back there. I am a Christian, and Jesus means everything to me, but I have never consistently trusted Him with my food issues. So,at the ripe old age of 58, I am learning how to do that!

I like: gardening, reading, teaching, animals, people, worshipping, and serving. I work in the CARE ministry at our church in lay counseling and love it. Oh, I LOVE Madea movies!!

I would like to go back to school but can'.t afford it and refuse to have a student loan So..waiting. Thanks for reading my bio.

fatsecret calorie calculations off??
Has anyone else found the calorie allowance on fatsecret to be too high? After following for several weeks, eating good, healthy, whole foods, but not losing weight, I decided to check it out. Checked with "My Fitness Pal" first. Plugged in same information, and it calculated approx 1,400 cal/day.. Checked out other sites, even did the math, and everyone's cal, mutations put me between 1,250-1,450 cal/day for weight loss.
I recalculated my calories for fatsecret, putting in " sedentary"rather than "mildly active." That took it down from 1,900 to 1:600. According to everywhere else I've checked, this is too high, and 1,900 was definitely waaay too high!!

What's the deal??

Screw the Diet: Just Eat Real Food!
Yes, it is quite a miraculous story. We are still amazed, she continues to walk in health. This is not to say it was easy, but when the only other choice is to die, or wear a bag the rest of your life... I can only pray I will get that serious about my health.
