This has been a crazy week.

On Saturday we picked up our exchange student, the most delightful 17 year old girl name Kine from Norway. Ate pizza, chatted and had a nice day. Sunday we went shopping for the many things she needed and cooked burgers on the grill.

On Monday my 20 year old daughter Rachel was scheduled to arrive for a visit. I had an awfully painful rash so on my way to pick her up from the airport I went to the doctor (to find out I have shingles – OUCH!). While I was there she sent me a message that her flight was delayed. Long story short, after six delays, 3 cancelations, 3 flight changes and 29 hours of traveling, my daughter finally made it to town on Tuesday - three hours before she was to be in a wedding. She still needed to buy shoes, get her eyebrows waxed, hair colored and dress steamed. After a flurry of activity we were able to get her to the wedding on time. Barely.

By Wednesday I was exhausted due to having shingles and a lack of sleep. But I still had to work and attend a wedding reception in the evening. I made it through the evening and crashed out as soon as we got home.

Luckily, yesterday was uneventful and I was starting to feel a bit better. Wind wasn’t great but we decided to take the sailboat out for a sail anyway. It actually turned out to be a nice gentle sail and Kine loved the lake and the boat.

This morning I went for the first physical I’ve had in 10 years. I’m not sure why they needed to take 6 viles of blood, but I guess they’re checking everything out. And they are sending me to two more doctors for more tests. I guess that’s the price we pay for getting older.

So with all this going on I haven’t been eating as well as I should and I with shingles I haven’t been able to exercise. Luckily I’ve only gained about half a pound, but I don’t want to make this a habit. So I’m back to better eating TODAY. I’m planning to be back at weight lifting on Monday. Hopefully I’ll be healed enough by then.

This has turned out to be an awesome week! After working for weeks and thinking it wasn’t going to happen, we finally got the high school to accept the foreign exchange student we are planning to host this school year. Talk about being down to the wire – she is arriving in town this weekend. Since I didn’t think it was going to happen I’m not really prepared. So now I’m spinning around crazy with excitement and nervousness. I can hardly focus on work. My mind and heart just aren’t in it.

I’m so excited to be hosting a sweet, outdoorsy, energetic, 17 year old girl from Norway. I’ve finally been able to make contact with her just yesterday because things were just finalized with the school. I just want this experience to be so great for her. My head is spinning trying to think of all the things I could/should be doing for and with her. I still don’t know exactly when she’ll be here – sometime between Saturday and Monday. So I am on pins and needles waiting to hear. To make it even more exciting and crazy-busy, my daughter flying in from Alabama Monday for visit. And we’re having a 20th birthday party for her at the house next Saturday. It will be great to have us all together for the week, but the excitement and happiness of it might just kill me before it even happens.

And if that isn’t enough excitement, on Wednesday one of my foster kids is getting married.

I know I’m rambling, but I’m just too wound up to put my thoughts together yet.

I am thanking God for all these wonderful blessings!!!!

Monday – Supreme90 legs
Wednesday – Supreme90 chest and back
Friday – Kettlebell Ultimate Fate Burner and Total Body Toning
Obviously, I won’t be doing any hiking this weekend. But totally worth it!
