Woot! Woot! First day of my 12 days off work:) Everyone keeps asking what am I going to do....NOTHING is my reply. My last vaca was pretty busy and I felt like I needed a vacation from my vacation, so this time around I'm going with the flow. Might go camping, might go to Cedar Point, might just stay home and read in my hammock?

What a great night, I surprised my man after work with an impromptu night out. I think this may have been my first time eating at a restaurant since I've changed my eating habits. I have to say not bad at all. I ate a cheeseburger, no bun, had 2 captain and diet cokes, gave my fries to the Mr. and flirted the night away.
At no point in time did I even crave the fries, which is shocking considering my all time fave junk foods were fries and ice cream, I'm free!!!!

Had a Patient request to speak to my trainee last night, she proceeded to tell the nurse I was training that he should be grateful that he is being trained by me, she then went on to tell him what a great nurse she believes me to be and how lucky he is to have the opportunity, etc. Needless to say she made my eyes get a little misty(and that's a hard thing to do). This was one of those moments that you look back on when you start to feel that nursing is a thankless profession and you realize this is why you got into it in the first place. I love that I can make someone smile and laugh, they can cry on my shoulder, voice complaints to me, and trust me with their lives. Trust me to make sure that I will do everything in my power to get them healthy.

Looking forward to pushing through this last night at work and starting my exercise program in the am (after a nice sleep).
I'm trying to psyche myself up about tonight, I'm training a brand spanking new nurse again and beginning to understand were the saying, "Nurses eat their young." came from. But it will be + and I'm gonna do my darnedest to pour as much info into his brain as I can during this shift.
I have been feeling pretty energized the last few days and I honestly have been forcing myself to eat because I just don't feel hungry. I've read that the increased fats in the diet will do that to you, I guess I figured I'd be the exception and craving carbs and sugars, but I'm fine:)
