finally, a little success
Hi, been at it most of my life with weight ups and downs. I'm an older woman (53) and after losing quite a bit of weight, (almost 100lbs in the last 10 years) with the
"stress"
diet (haha) I started to creep up again. An endocrinologist helped me understand my creeping blood sugar problem and discovered I had a vitamin D insufficiency, which affects my metobolism. She prescribed supplements and some meds. She persuaded me to lower my carbs and start keeping track of my food as I was probably eating more than I thought, and gee....she was right. I am off the meds now and more blood work in 3 months to see how that goes. I've been keeping track since October 2, 2012 and I'm happy to report I've lost 5lbs.....not much, but I'll take it! I now have 20 to go and decided to come out of the closet and meet you all....

My first day
If you're not overweight, I would suggest simply logging your food for awhile and see how it adds up. As for exercise, start perhaps by doing things together with the boyfriend. IE, I like to go ballroom and rock-n-roll dancing with mine, also walks and bike riding in the warm weather. Weight training is the best way to build strength and muscle tone and definition....you won't look like a body builder, just strong! Good luck, and don't get obsessive! p.s. we can't all be food perfect all the time, I like the 80-20% rule: If you eat well 80% of the time, 20% of the time you can have your cake (or Lucky Charms)

Motivating Someone Else..
yes, I agree, just as with an alcoholic, you can show them the door, but they have to walk through. Be an example, don't judge, offer support if requested, and then.....mind your own business! It will make you crazy trying to "fix" them
