Lost three pounds, happy. I made two significant changes this week.
1. At this point calories are my issue. I kept my calories below 3000. More specifically, I noticed that my calorie deficit was closer to 1100 calories/day judging by my diet calendar. That's my calorie goal.
2. You're not going to like this. I upped my carbs. Specifically, I decided that avoiding vegetables I liked like peppers or sugar snap peas didn't work for me considering that they were satisfying, filling, and had a
microscopic number of calories
for it. I've also added strawberries for the same reason. I'm still in ketosis in a big way, so maybe I'm just finding my appropriate carb level and its a lot higher than I thought.

losing 3.0 lb a week

I can tell from my diet calendar I'm getting somewhat discouraged with Atkins. My carb count is the highest it's been in weeks -- 62 net carbs -- even though the calorie count is the lowest it's been in weeks, 2700. Second time in a few days that I've had a somewhat high carb count. I feel like watching the carbs hasn't made a difference. All the carbs I had today I consider healthy -- cabbage from the mu shu pork, peppers, and strawberries. I was so full from dinner that eating afterwards never crossed my mind. And stepping on the scale tonight I can see that my weight is down a couple of pounds from last night's evening check.
I'm beginning to think there's nothing magical about Atkins, it's all about creating a calorie deficit, and low-carb is just one way of doing it -- a good way if you're carb sensitive which I believe I am. None of the carbs I ate are going to spike me, and they definitely didn't set off a feeding frenzy. I think they actually helped me feel more satisfied.

Well, today was my highest day carb-wise in a long time, but it was also one of my lower calorie days in a long time too. The carbs came from strawberries, sugar snap peas, some tomatoes and a ton of broccoli (well, 10 oz.). A good chunk of calories came from the 5 tablespoons of olive oil that went on it. Kept to my plan of cutting out the cheese (I had 1 tbsp of cream cheese to go with a MIM). I'll try to be more restrained tomorrow, but I can't say I feel too bad about today's eating, I think I made healthy choices, and definitely got in my veggies/fiber.
For whatever reason, I wasn't in ketosis this morning and yesterday. Oh, and I got a digital food scale.

As a buddy pointed out to me, "it's a high fat diet, not a high calorie diet," so I'm ready to buckle down. I'm cutting out the cheese as suggested by some friends because it stalls people. I'm hooked on macadamias like an addict but I'll really try and not let them blow out my daily calorie count. I've got a personal challenge with that same buddy to lose five pounds in the next two weeks. Here goes.
