The last time I posted a Bio I was 63. Here I am back at 71 starting over. Really? Maybe it is just beginning a new time of life. I recently lost my job after 16 years and due to age and health I am quarantining at home. I am fortunate to have my 3 kids, 2 grandkids, and 2 great grandkids, 5 sisters, and friends to keep me busy. We are all staying separated except for 15 foot visits with masks and no touching each other. Dear God I want to hug someone. Then again I know I want to come through this time. I can wait and not be greedy. So I am looking for a stay at home job, working in my patio garden, cooking, talking to at least 3 people a day and cleaning out everything in my house I have stashed till later to do. Well it is later. Everything is going to going to be alright.

MOTIVATORS/MOTIVATION!
I recently started trying to lose 100 lbs cause my son lost 120 lbs and has kept it off for over 2 years. He only logged his food and exercise and made sure it was enough to let him lose. He suggested FS to me since that is how he kept track of everyting. Well here I am and I see what he means. No diet, no gimicks, just doing the right thing everyday. He also never took a day off his plan. Said he wanted to make a change in his life.
Well guess what you are on that same road. You have already made a great start and now it is just a matter of keeping your eye on the prize. Which is you feeling and looking your best for the rest of your life. I am just starting to get there at 63 so I envy you doing it at the beginning of you life.
The exercise is hard for me cause I get bored ease. My son gave me his treadmill which he walked on for 1-2 hours everyday. Well no amount of walking while watching TV can make me stay on it that long. So I am working on other ways to exercise. Now I am watching TV standing up moving. I don't care if it is just swaying, bending, stretching. I also set up time to clean in a block and make sure I don't stop to rest, but keep moving. Think of some way to MOVE. Cause moving is all exercise is. It can be mowing a neighbors yard, scrubbing something from top to bottom (my shower), walking the dog, or anything that gives a feeling of contentment. Please keep in touch. Phillis

Group of One?
My son lost 120 in about 15 months. He lost it gradual enough to not have all the hanging skin issues. I want to lose 100 lbs and want to do it with about a lb a week. Since I am older I want to give my skin time to shrink naturally. Long and slow is not bad and I am following my son's formula of log everything I eat & exercise. I know I can do it too.

Help! Need Motivation!!
When I reach a stall I start at the beginning. Weigh & measure. Ask a friend or family member to nudge you everyday. But the best is to find out why I am feeling too depressed to go on. After losing 40 lbs you should be feeling great, but you don't. And I can't tell you how many times I have lost and gained. Probably close to 1000 lbs in my lifetime. Finally I went through a 12 step program to get to know what makes me behave the way I do. Food was my drup of choice. Now when I start to put something in my mouth and it is not a planned thing.(you know the I want something to make me feel better)Before I eat a bite I stop and write down what I am feeling. Hungry? Angry? Lonely? Tired? Bored? I need to know why I think food will make this feeling better. Well it doesn't make a bad feeling better cause then I just feel worse afterwards. That is where I pray for guidence and call a friend. There is no easy answer. But I have found if I really stop to think about what I am doing it makes a difference. Before I was NOT thinking.
You have come a long way baby...so keep on putting one foot in front of the other in a forward direction. I will pray for you

obese?
You are not alone. I may not weigh 400 lbs, but at 5' tall my 240 lbs is probably on the same curve. I recently joined cause my son lost 120 lbs using Fat Secret as his accountability source. He was amazing and it really gave me hope. I joined the Lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks challenge to start. Congratulations on finding a place to start. Keep on reaching out to others for help
