What counts as bread?
I ate no bread for the first year of my diet/life style change. By Bread I mean just that "Bread", I still ate other wheat products such as breakfast cereals. I switched things like the traditional lunchtime sandwich to a tuna salad for example. I found it a really simple way to curtail and control the amount of gash carbohydrates in my diet without getting to overwhelmed with the science side of dieting.

Even now I use the same rule to enforce my life-style changes, only eating bread every other day.

Before and After, anyone?

Here's mine, the one on the top was taken in 2009 and I was almost 420 pounds then the one on the bottom was taken today, I'm never going back there!

What are your biggest secrets/tips?
Mine is "Routine". Before starting my current journey I tried to analysis what had caused me to fail countless weight loss attempts previously and I realised that each time it had been down to a break in routine.

Now I plan and know most of the time what I'll be eating each day in advance, I've been doing it for 15 months without any breaks or issues and it has enabled me to lose 50% of my body weight to date.

Too hungry to work out!
Ditto with the other comments, you should NOT feel hungry to the point where you feel you are unable to continue exercising if you are dieting correctly.

As Hoser said for one it's unsustainable and at some point even if you have the will power of a Jedi Knight, the Hunger will get the better of you and you'll end up over-eating or eating something unsuitable to compensate and appease the hunger pangs.

As Tina said porridge is a great source of slow release energy as are other complex carbs such as wholegrain cereals if training post breakfast or things like wholewheat pasta, brown rice if training later in the day.

Avoid training/exercising on empty it can not only be dangerous but in some circumstances can have the opposite effect to dieting, Google Sumo Dieting for more info.

Seasonal weight loss/gain/platau
I hit a massive plateau last year, September to December after losing a 140 pounds the previous 8 months to that, I then only went on to lose around 10 ish pounds during this 4 month plateau.

In January I jigged my diet after identify some possible issues within it (to much fruit and not enough protein basically) and I added a more strict exercise routine and have gone on this year to date to lose another 56 pounds.

I think every serious long term dieter hits a plateau at some time and they can be soul destroying! I don't think it's necessarily related to the seasons unless you were to live somewhere where the season changes were so extreme that they were to effect your activity level and food availability, like Inuit's for example.
