Good morning Journal ! Today is my « off day » ! BF and I are treating ourselves to a great Italian restaurant tonight; we’ve decided to do this once a month this year, pick one of the best (starred or not starred) restaurants in town or in the country and enjoy! I know the menu of tonight’s place BY HEART, and I have already set my mind on: the beef carpaccio, the fresh linguini with salmon; and the lemon tart with raspberry sorbet; and of course my favourite bottle of Pouilly Fumé wine! Hip hip hip!!! So me being me – the ‘new me’, I have logged this meal already, together with the rest of my food for the day. And wooow, amazing how the calories can add up!! Just tonight’s meal estimate is about 1,400 calories !! Ha ha ha! That’s about what I eat throughout 1 normal day for the moment!! And this is not even a super heavy meal with big portions; but definitely packed with ‘empty’ sugars and fats. Ok, let me rewind to what my ‘normal eating days’ used to be about 1 year ago: Breakfast (if any): 2 or 3 slices of white bread, margarine spread, jam, gouda cheese, coffee with sugar and milk (600 cals, I have just checked on FS). Lunch : lasagna or big sandwich with cheese / ham and mayo or a large pizza or a cheese burger with fries (500- 700 cals); Dinner : any meat in gravy, always with pasta or rice, plus red wine, and then chocolate (600-700 cals) . Snacks : cakes, biscuits, full fat yogourts, nuts and raisins (no moderation – 200-250 cals ); cheese or salami and wine for aperitif (300 - 400 cals) before dinner now and again. Oh, of course no exercise whatsoever. So I was probably scoffing anything around 2,500 calories per day, and hardly burning off 2,000. Good Lord! Screening my diet then, it was saturated with salt (processed meals), fats (bad ones, cholesterol galore), and sugars (white carbs, processed sugars, empty cals with too much alcohol) . Always sluggish, bloated, always falling asleep after dinner. Do everything to never go back to those extremes.

Bye for now!

Good morning Journal ! I am in the green zone, hip hip hip!!!! :-))) Almost there! And yes, it shows dramatically. My body shape HAS changed. I used to compare my body to a fruit bowl : apple for the belly, pear for rear and hips, generous bananas for the arms and legs. Well, the fruit salad has melted down!! I am back at my ideal weight! At the difference that this time round, I got fitter!! OK, enough gloating, the work continues!

Training for the 10 miles race is well on track! Sum up: total of 32kms these past 7 days, alternating slow jogs, sprints, intervals, long runs, indoors and outdoors. This week, I'll make sure I do at least 3 long runs, and one easy jog. One or 2 spins, and a bit of weight and resistance. Diet wise: will try to cut down carbs a bit, and up the proteins. Just cutting some of the fruit, and replacing by cottage cheese and eggs' whites.

Bye for now!
