I can not eat sometimes!
Hey Melinda... I'm in my 2nd week of induction (planning to stay in induction), and have also been struggling a lot some days to stay out of the dreaded "starvation mode".
Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to me that in ketosis the way your body lets you know you're hungry is different. Rather than that empty, gnawing sort of feeling in the pit of your tummy it seems to express itself as weakness/sluggishness... at least for me. So when I start feeling weak/sluggish even though I don't seem to have any interest in food whatsoever I'll fix myself a little snack anyway, and that seems to help me feel better.
I think your body will still tell you what it needs, but since it's functioning differently, the way it lets you know will be a little different. You know for a fact your body needs a certain amount of fuel minimum to survive. So maybe it's just a matter of getting in tune with your body's new cues and signals and
recognizing
hunger differently?

Help! Did something stupid!!
Wow, thanks guys. Those are some great suggestions for where to start in improving my weight loss efforts, and I will definitely incorporate them.
Are there any other books, or larger more in-depth resources you could recommend on the subject? The articles were helpful, but they also whetted my appetite for more information! I love learning about stuff like this (especially when I'm implementing it myself and can be my own guinea pig), and the more information I can get the better. I'm going to head to the library one of these days, so if you have any recommended books that would be fantastic. Ketosis is fascinating to me.

Help! Did something stupid!!
Wow, that was very informative.
I had one more question though if you don't mind? I'm mid-second week of low-carbing and I find that in a given day I'll have small/trace ketones in the morning, but then by night it's up to moderate... does it normally fluctuate that much in one day? Is that simply because I'm still transitioning? And will that stabilize to a certain level of ketones once I've fully transitioned?
