Been awake for three hours, and still have zero appetite. I refuse to force myself to eat, as I have had to do more often than not in the nearly 4 weeks I've been on Atkins. Not sure about Atkins at this point. Appetite is too often depressed. This approch worked great for me when I was 10 years younger; maybe it's not the right weight-loss plan for me now, at 51. Thinking of easing into "carb-cycling." Seems a more sustainable way to approach weight loss. Just wondering how effective it is.

Yesterday eve I had a couple vodka Chiltons, small ones. I did not know vodka has no carbs, nice surprise, but I realize that was a "treat" and can't do it more than once a week without sabotaging weight loss. Today, I did another "not approved by Atkins" thing and made a shake with unsweetened almond milk (30 cals, no carbs) with unsweetened cocoa powder, strawberries, blueberries and, gulp!, one-quarter of a frozen banana -- the latter being a big no-no this early into Atkins. But, I'm doing well so far and I won't eat bananas every day, for a while... Surprising how just that small piece of banana jacked my carb count way up. Oh well, I'll burn it off this afternoon. Lunch will be a green salad with tuna and some cheese on the side, with a half-cup of cooked cauliflower topped with a wonderful spicy mayo I made last night to go on jalapeno burger.

Gray, overcast day here. Didn't sleep well last night and don't feel like exercising, but am pushing myself to get it done. Will not let anything impede the progress I've made so far. I'll be celebrating my 52nd birthday one week from tomorrow -- how can that have happened?! =) I hope to be down at least 3 lbs from last weigh-in; 5 lbs. would be better, but I'll be happy with 3. My goal is to reach my desired weight of 115 by the first day of spring. Though I'm on week 3 of Atkins, and am supposed to be keeping carbs to 25g, I'm pushing that a bit, as I've felt a little some muscle exhaustion (beyond the norm )when exercising. Am burning between 250-300 calories each walk, so a few extra carbs won't hinder my progress.
I started using the Strava app yesterday to record my exercise stats. My bf has been using it for a couple years for his road cycling. Excellent tool for keeping track of your workouts, including calories burned, distance run/walk/cycle, your pace, etc. Strava tracks you via GPS, so more accurate that the counts you get on this site for cals burned during exercise.

The calorie counter shows I had 36g of carbs but I'm assuming that's total carbs and doesn't deduct fiber. So, deducting the fiber from everything listed, hopefully it's around 25-28 carbs total.

RED LETTER DAY!
I refuse to weigh daily. I go by the fit of my clothes and weigh once a week. If I weighed every day, I'd get scale-obsessed and, as a obsessive type, I don't need that. That said, my favorite chinos are loose, loose, loose! Bra fat shrinking!! Yippee. The suffering of Induction was worth this, and now I'm accustomed to eating low-carb. Sure, I still wish I could have a piece of toast or a potato on occasion, but when you see results, it motivates you to stay the course. Anyway, in due time, those foods will be ok.
