The switch to the low-fat vegan diet has been a qualified success so far -- even though I haven't lost much weight on it. The foods I am eating (bananas and dates are staples)are foods I like, and they seem healthy. Fiber certainly isn't a problem!
I am becoming a little more familiar with the rules of the diet and how to make it work for me. I've been making banana smoothies for breakfast most mornings.
I like the idea of not restricting calories. One of the videos I watched talked about how sugar cravings might result from not eating enough fruit sugar during the day. Craving chocolate and desserts after dinner is a problem for me, so this idea was interesting.

I was doing the Atkins Diet(low carb), but I felt fiber was a problem, since I don't like leafy green salads. I ate frozen mixed vegetables instead. Somehow eating mixed vegetables lead to sugar cravings. It took me awhile to figure out this pattern and even longer to figure out a possible solution: high carb - low fat raw Vegan. I am learning about this diet online. At this point I am still in an experimental stage, but I like eating unlimited fruit and vegetables so far. Having a good blender helps.

I've got a little momentum started again after my extended holiday lull and weight plateau. The challenge now is to keep progress rolling.

I think I am at a cross roads. My weight loss chart has leveled off and has even been sloping up a little.
I thought the Christmas Holidays were pretty good -- I didn't go overboard and gain -- but one month into the new year and I am not making progress. It would be easy to drift up a little more and then a little more.
I have been down this road so many times I know where it leads: back to bad habits, feelings of disgust and powerlessness, increasing health risks, etc.
What I want to remind myself now is to be patient with myself and take advantage of the choice I have now to get back to good habits and progress.
