Have to rave...new product!
I read these posts and had to go out and give this a whirl. Actually, Whole Foods was out of them when I went, then surprisingly my neighborhood Food Emporium (NYC) had them by the brand "HOUSE". I was a bit skeptical that I would enjoy the taste, especially after reading the instructions that mentioned that you want to boil them to get rid of the "Authentic Aroma"...BUT, they were DELISH! I baked some pre cooked organic chicken meatballs, heated up some Rao's Homeade sauce along with carrots and onions...got out a Mozarella Flavored Veggie Slice, and VOILA! Took about 10 minutes from start to finish, and it was delish. It's my knockoff version (275 cals) of what would typically be about a 700 calorie meal if not way higher ordered in a restaurant. LOVE IT!

Protein
Also, almonds and chickpeas are things that I use in my salads as a means of protein.

Nutrition Info Paranoia
Totally! Thanks for the scoop. I know all that stuff, and follow those rules. And yes, eating out can be killer, although I'm pretty pro at ordering super well. I think it's because in the past, I've been able to lose weight by not thinking about it so much, and just getting it done by exercising more and eating less. But this time, I'm taking the methodical approach by counting calories. So it's just a new thing for me, and I sometimes find it frustrating. At other times, it's liberating to know how many cals you have "in the bank", etc. Thanks for the responses K8yk!

Nutrition Info Paranoia
I just read an article in this month's Cooking Light that discusses the new laws in NYC for chain restaurants posting nutrional info. I was surprised to learn that there is a 20% discrepancy allowance for nutrition info posted on even packaged foods-- ie: anything your eating could be "off" by up to 20%! I don't eat a ton of processed foods, aside from desserts like Skinny Cow treats (yum!)
Anyway, as of late, I have become overwhelmed with the idea of hidden calories: The varying of portion sizes, and the varying of ingredient sizes at places where the nutrition info is posted (like Tasti D, Energy Kitchen, etc). It can kinda drive you crazy! Anyway, the idea that your daily intake could be "off" by a few hundred calories annoys me, and it just starts to overwhelm me at times when I'm making food choices. Anyone else feel this way?

Breakfast???
I'm not a big eater in the morning during the week...
Do you drink coffee? I am a majah coffee drinker, and a nutritionist at Canyon Ranch once told me that you must put something in your stomach before you drink coffee. So, I like to spread my breakfast out a little bit. I pop a handful of blueberries in my mouth first thing, then pour my first cup of coffee with non sweetened Almond Milk, then bring an apple to work (or for you, maybe school?) where I slice it up to make it last longer as I enjoy a second cup of coffee. So I start eating at around 9am when I wake up, and essentially finish my breakfast around 11. I like to spread it out like this. Good luck!
