I'm a 22 year old college grad, trying to keep up with my cycle-fanatic boyfriend. We love being outdoors and active together, but we only get to see each other on the weekends, which means I have to learn to motivate myself! I am a fun-loving energetic person who recently discovered running and rugby as newfound loves... I have always secretly loved Biggest Loser, and between that and my cousin's struggle with her weight (she turned me on to fatsecret) I have realized I talk the talk but I'm not walking the walk! This is a new leaf for me and I can't wait to see how it helps me keep tabs on myself and push me to do what I need to do to be healthy!

My 2 cents FWIW:

Drink your beer in moderation; don't cut it out unless you know it's your "lynch pin" or have an alcohol problem (as stated earlier).

Make sure your other food and drink intake is healthy. Soda is a huge offender in the battle for weight loss. Upping water intake has a few great effects for me: it flushes my system and it helps me distinguish between my desire to eat and my thirst.

You can also cut your carbs elsewhere. Sometimes I don't have a bun with my burger, and I stopped buying bread because I know if I've got bread it gets eaten very fast.

Bottom line: moderation, cut calories elsewhere, increase your water intake and make sure you're being consistent with exercise! (if I cheat just a little on exercise, I gain weight, no matter how well I eat.)


I should add that I fell off the bandwagon for quite some time (family tragedy and no discipline) and that these are things I've learned about myself in the past 6 months or so.
